It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

I have had to let go of the security of a marriage--even though it was not working for years. That was terrifying, the known issues for unknown issues.

I felt free and able to breathe again. That was a relief to know I could rebuild my life and be happy.

The new aspect of my life had security in knowing it was up to me to make myself happy. That was a surprising aspect of the divorce and in going ahead. It ended up being so much a better decision in the long run but scarier in the short term.
