Here is a silly little question I’m curious about. Do you consider Twitter to count as a “blog”? This past week I’ve twice went to sites where the blog link took me directly to their Twitter page. While generally speaking you can consider Twitter a mico-blogging platform. It not what I’d put out there as a blog, I mean I wouldn’t call myself a blogger just because I had a twitter

Twitter is interesting social media, but it is not a blog. There is a different level of content that I expect on a blog and a different level of immediacy and interaction that I would expect from Twitter. Complimentary, definitely, but not equal.

I use Twitter as a tool to promote with, but don't consider it a blog. Standard AP form would be 200 to 500 words, so 140 characters would fall short,

Micro-blog, yes. Actual blog? Not so much. Twitter is a handy little thing but it certainly doesn't count as a blog. Too few characters to really convey the level of thinking one would expect from a blog.

I don't consider it a blog.

That's pretty much what I would have gone with too. It's sort of like blogging, but I wouldn't consider it to be a full fledged blog by any means.

Twitter is considered a micro-blog, which is a type of blog.
However, it's not what I think of when I think "blog", at all. I have a blog, and a Twitter account, but I use it more as a sort of instant messenger than anything.

140 characters, is not a blog post.

Twitter is definitely not a blog!

I would not necessarily call it a blog, but it can be a blog tool and depending what the person is tweeting about it may or may not be.

Definitely don't consider Twitter to be a blog.

Twitter is definitely not a blog. You can't do more than post your status.

I ditto this. I do not consider Twitter a blog, it's too brief.

I totally agree with you. What I'm wondering is what people think of tumblrs - do they count as blogs? If so, do ALL tumblrs count as blogs or does it depend on the individual tumblr?

Too brief is a perfect description. 180 characters or whatever it is does NOT = a fully fleshed out blog post. It's like comparing a jotted down idea with a fully fleshed out academic paper, yanno?

Most definitely not. However, it is interesting in that the sort of pithy phrases and sayings that people like Shakespeare was known for would have been perfect for twitter.

I don't have a twitter account, but it surprises me to hear some people would consider twitter as a blog.
