Is "toy collecting" a general thing or specific to type of toy?

We had a great discussion with friends about this at WORK yesterday (not with our usual "friends" but at WORK)!!!!????

It seems some people believe that those who collect lots of "adult toys", probably ALSO have a "LOT" of other "collections". For instance, one person admitted having a LOT of adult toys in her nightstand, but she also has a TON of kitchen gadgets in her kitchen.

One guy admitted he and his wife have a fairly large collection of toys too (she used to do those "at home toy sales" parties...so little wonder), but HE also has a collection of CAR tools that would put a dealership to shame.

SO...is COLLECTING just a specific hobby, such that some of you have large adult toy collections and nothing else, or is it a general behavior of collecting things you enjoy????

I have a lot of collections or one large collection, but NO collection of adult toys.
I don't "collect" anything. NO large stash of any type thing.

I don't really collect other things, no. I'd like to collect memorabilia of The Sisters of Mercy but can't really afford it atm. I used to buy a lot of CDs and books, but I wouldn't say that I have a collection of either of those. I have lots of bras but only because I haven't found one that fits. The only other thing I have a lot of is black clothing, heh.

I collect sex toys, makeup, shoes, and clothes. Mostly the toys and makeup. Those are my prized, super large collections.

I wanna collect cake! That sounds awesome.

I guess I have some other collections. There are lots of books in my house. I also probably have too much perfume (but I stopped adding to that awhile ago.) Toys are the only thing I'm really actively collecting right now.

I use to collect music instruments from everywhere. It's the only thing I kinda collected for a while. But I stopped because I am looking for more space and simplicity in my life.

I think collecting is just a general behavior. We don't "collect" toys, per se, but my husband does have collections of DVDs/Blu-rays, video games, and vintage Transformers. Myself, I'm not inclined to collect. Hubby, on the other hand, has several collection. It's just in our genes.

I have a lot of toys, fetishwear, boots, shoes, stuff like that. I never really think of it as a collection though, just a lot of stuff!

We're both collectors. My library is continually growing and so is his collection of vintage toys(not the adult kind).
