I used to think that I was saving the worms when it was raining and I put them back into the wet grass so people walking on the concrete wouldn't step on them - then my mom really convinced me that they crawl out because they would drawn in the wet grass...
Saving the wormies - have you done this too when you were a kid? :D

If I saw them laying in the bottom of a water puddle, I would pick them out and put them in a dryer place. I didn't want the worms to drown.

I've never heard of that... And also, I can't imagine wanting to touch a worm...
06/29/2012
No, I was more into saving all the other critters. I never got int worms.
06/29/2012
I've always found a damp (but not too wet!) place for them. *grins*
06/29/2012
I still do this... slugs, too.
06/29/2012
I still do it - often I put them on the very edge of the grass so that if they're really in danger of drowning they can crawl back up to the concrete.

I still do this. I dislike seeing them on the concrete, here in Florida, they'll either dry up or get stepped on.

Kinda funny!

I used to do it all the time and my mom thought it was the cutest thing ever. I wouldn't necessarily toss them into the grass, but I set them on a rock or something that wasn't concrete. It just always bugged me because I hated how it felt when I would rub my skin against the concrete in some way. I just felt like the worms wouldn't like it either.

Yes
06/29/2012
I don't recall doing this.
06/29/2012
No.

yes

I didn't save worms, but I would take care of other little bugs and crawly things.

I did this the other day when hosing off the back sidewalk. lol But that time the grass really was dry so it was safe to put them there. I put a couple into the grass, and told them to hurry and hide before the birds saw them! lol
06/29/2012
I'm sorry, but I don't really want to touch worms...
06/29/2012
I always save bugs, no matter what type they are, even if they're in my house I hate to see them die
06/29/2012
i have done that, but I also used to pick out a ton of them, and split them in half over and over again to see how many times they could be cut without dying. Was a mad scientist even back then...

It's rare that I don't save bugs. However, with worms, I would take them off the sidewalk when the sun came back out so they wouldn't get baked. I still try to do this. It always makes me sad to see dried, dead worms on the pavement.

I'll put them somewhere that's not too wet so hopefully they'll stay. Save. All. The. Worms! LOL.
07/05/2012
Never did this.
07/05/2012
I would pick them off the sidewalk leading to my house and put them back in the grass.
