What is your "no mosquito's" technique for outdoor entertaining?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
We love to cook out. Our mosquito problem is getting worse every year! Even with "Yard Guard" an hour before, plus bug zapper lights going 24/7 and a "Mosquito Magnet" running, we still get eaten up, both by "no see um's" (Sand Gnats) and by big old Mosquito's.

Anyone have anything they have tried that really keeps these beasts away and/or traps/kills them?

Thanks

The best method to keep those annoying bugs away is by eating garlic. Garlic contains Allicin, this compound gives garlic its pungent smell and is toxic to bugs. When you consume garlic, especially raw garlic, its scent emits through your skin and makes it hard for pesky insects to smell and bite you -- my friend who lives in the rural area swears by it. But since you love anal play so much, I'm not sure whether garlic will be the solution for you to ward off those beasts, because garlic can give you gas.

Yep, yep. Garlic is the best remedy.

But, you can't exactly tell your guests to consume garlic before attending your function.

Invest in those Off! clip on things and just set them around the perimeter of the area you plan to entertain in and that should help significantly. Citronella candles do not work and mosquitos are not attracted to bug zappers (it's not light they are attracted to, it's scent).

You can use olive oil, or various plant oils to ward off mosquitos. Plant oils of course make you smell like a plant so mosquitos don't find you appetizing. However, similar to what stormy says, your gusts probably won't want to rub olive oil or anything all over themselves before coming to visit. I don't have anything else in mind besides garlic or olive oil, so sadly I don't have many recommendations for keeping a whole party mosquito free.

The OFF Clip On works quite well as a bug repellent, but it contains a neurotoxin called Metofluthrin and can cause health issues for both humans and pets. I found a blog site explaining about the harms of using chemical bug repellents, but it also includes a recipe on how to prepare your own natural bug repellent by mixing essential oils, here's the link.
