Would you play video games with your kids?

I grew up playing video games and can't wait to play them with my kids. How about you? Would you not want to encourage passive, un-educational behavior? Is it okay if you take part too? Other?

Yes. There's not anything wrong with having fun with your kids. I've done it, just not often. It's not encouraging un-educated behavior to play with your kids every now and then. If you were encouraging them to sit around and play all day, then it might be unhealthy, but I think any time you're being involved it's good & playing a video game with them every now and then is a good way to get on their level and bond a little bit, even open up.

I don't believe games - not all of them - encourage un-educational behavior. A lot of games encourage critical thinking and help develop hand-eye coordination and attention to detail (depending on the games). I grew up playing them as well, and some even with my parents - and it never negatively impacted my desire to learn. And definitely positively influenced creativity.

I play with my son sometimes on the Wii. I tried his Xbox 360 and I had a hard time with the control it is going to take me awhile to get used to that.

I really don't have a lot of video games, but I'd love to play Mario-Kart with my kids (if I ever have any).

If/When I have kids, they'll definitely grow up around video games. My partner is a gamer and I love playing with him. I can't imagine my kids wouldn't get involved too. Of course, we wouldn't be playing COD with a 4 year old...
