I love both of them. I need stupid, raunchy humor sometimes to balance out the crap going on in my life. I also enjoy Family Guy and King of the Hill

Political commentary mixed in with fart jokes and a walking piece of caca is not my idea of entertainment and the voices oh god the voices drive me insane.

I don't think either. I watched a lot of Simpsons as a kid, wasn't allowed to see South Park, and since I only have Netflix now, I havent had the urge to watch either.

I think the Simpsons struggles simply because it's been around for so long. South Park just hit its stride a few years ago, so for the moment I think it's blowing the Simpsons out of the water. The Simpsons probably has better writing, but South Park really does a great job of staying up to date with its satire.

I love Archer. IMO, it's the funniest animated show on TV right now. Unquestionably, it's the one with the most sexual overtones.

I'd like to add that having sex with South Park playing on tv in the background is the funniest, unbelievably so.
I don't enjoy either show too much, but I prefer the Simpsons out of the two.

Dear Edenfantasys;
I have a confession to make. Little known fact? I am a die-hard Simpsons fan. I can quote more episodes between Seasons 2-9 than you'd even care to know. I usually put on an episode before I get into bed just to have something to fall asleep to on most nights. I grew up on the show and I find the familiar lines comforting.
With that said! I think South Park (no offense to anyone that likes it!) is brutally immature and in really poor taste 95% of the time. I think the humor is shallow and exploitative. Occasionally they get it right, but the other 95% of the time just makes that 5% irrelevant to me.
The Simpsons on the other hand is to me was a consistently smart, funny and incisive show. Well, it was up until about Season 10...then it kind of started sucking. When Matt Groening started doing Futurama (another pretty good show) the Simpsons became a really shallow, low-brow affair which sucked. But the Simpsons that I grew up on? Biting social commentary that was largely (though not universally, I'll admit) done in a tasteful and sensitive way, all while being really funny. Many fully developed characters and inter-character dynamics.
My only HUGE problem with the show is Matt Groening's apparent contempt for Asians. Rarely if ever do I recall seeing positive portrayals of Asians on either the Simpsons or Futurama. From Apu to "Mr. Sparkle" to Amy Wong, Asian characters/representat ions of culture tend to be very two dimensional in Groening's work and they depend heavily on toxic stereotypes.

You are SO right about the references. They sneak in some really arty, nerdy academic stuff. I recall there being an episode in which they reference Un Chien Andalou - a famous French avant-garde surrealist film from the 1920s.

I like them both. I do love how the Simpsons sneak in some obscure references to movies, like Clockwork Orange. South Park has kind of lost it the past few years, although the Shake Weight episode was classic.

This is a great friggin' show. My girlfriend is going to kill the writer if she ever gets the chance, because I won't stop telling her she's in the "Danger Zoooone".

I don't really care to watch those kinds of shows. I prefer to watch Investigation Discovery or the History channel.

I love The Simpsons. I never got into South Park.

Simpsons season 3-8 are the best. Season 7 was their peak. The Simpsons will always be my all time favorite.
I don't know which seasons of South Park I prefer, but it's a fun show to watch once in awhile.

South Park, South Park, South Park! Im a huge Trey Parker fan (<3) and I would put SP up on my list next to LOST for most amazing shows of all time.
02/06/2011
Neither for me. I am not a huge fan of animated television shows. The only ones I really watch regularly are Family Guy and Futurama and that is only because my sister is a big fan and we live together, so I will watch it with her if she turns it on, but never would turn to it if I had the remote.
02/06/2011
I like South Park a lot more.
02/06/2011
The only animated comedy series I've ever been into was Family Guy... awhillllle back.
02/07/2011
The simpsons are a classic to me, and I can watch them all day long. Same with futerama.
Southpark, while its not my fave, I will watch every once in a while.

I'm not a fan of either, but I don't hate either either. Ha ha either either.
02/08/2011
I never really got into the Simpsons. I don't know why. I do like South Park, though. My boyfriend and I have a bunch of them recorded, so we watch it almost every night. I haven't seen them all, so they're new to me.
02/08/2011
It's been about 12 years since the Simpsons have been consistently good. We watch Family Guy and American Dad. Family Guy has been slipping a little in recent years, though.

I prefer The Simpsons to South Park, but am not a huge fan of either.
02/11/2011
I would rather watch The Simpsons over South Park, but SP does have its moments.
02/12/2011
I'm not really huge on any of those shows. I'm much happier watching NCIS or Criminal Minds. Though, if I had to pick, probably the Simpsons.
02/12/2011
I liked South Park when I was younger, but not really anymore. The Simpsons is ok, it's a good show to have on in the background when I want something to listen to, but don't want to have to pay attention. I don't watch either regularly though, Home Movies, Clone High and Sealab 2012 are much better.
02/12/2011
South Park is great - Matt and Trey are comic geniuses, in my opinion.
02/14/2011
I occasionally watch South Park & Simpsons, but I always watch Futurama.
02/20/2011
Definitely Simpsons!
02/20/2011
The new season of South Park starts Wed.
