King is classic...

I'm going to go against the crowd and vote for John Saul. His stuff is awesomely creepy especially because he writes a lot about children but if I went for my fave of all time it would be Clive Barker, even though he has several movies I want even more.
More recent authors I would like to see movies from are P.J Tracy, Karin Slaughter, Mo Hayder and several others that I don't know by heart but enjoy reading.

Gotta agree with LingaLoo. John Saul is a fantastic writer; I love his material. I've never gotten into reading anyone else...I've tried, but they just don't catch me like Saul's novels do.

King is great, ^^ Though my fave horror writer is Lovecraft lol.
Saul is a pretty neat writer as well ^^

I adore Dean Koontz. His writing style, characters and dialogue are amazing and riveting

It's difficult to choose between King and Koontz. I enjoy them both!

Saul's indeed quite enjoyable, but up against Stephen King? I think King would come out of that fight the winner, every time, in my book.

I like Koontz, and Saul. But Stephen King has my vote!

King, definitely King. There can be no question about it.

Not sure he qualifies as a Notorious Other, but John Connolly's The Book of Lost Things would make a very compelling movie.

Definitely King for me.

Again, Clive Barker and John Saul for me. Out of the classics anyway

Clive Barker, Laurell K Hamilton, Tanya Huff, Kelley Armstrong, Charlene Harris and if I'm the mood for serious freakage, Poppy Brite.

I like John Saul but I'm not usually into that kind of mystery. I'm more of a James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Jeffery Deaver, Alex Kava, Erica Spindler, Tami Hoag, Stuart Woods, John Sandford, Johnathan Kellerman kinda mystery person

I like Dekker.
