Are you one of those people...the movie theater "plastic wrapper crinkler, popcorn smacker, Coke slurper?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
We paid our $8.50 for tickets, sat down to enjoy our movie and right behind us sits "those folks". For the entire movie, they were crinkling the plastic wrapper on candy boxes, making insanely loud noise digging in their popcorn (ten gallon bucket, I believe) and then loudly crunch, crunch, crunching it, while actually slurping their Cokes. Really???? Even us turning around and glaring at this 20 something couple didn't give them the message, or maybe they didn't give a damned.

So...my question. If YOU are "those people", why do you feel it is okay to be that obnoxiously rude to others in a theater? Oh...we get popcorn, candy and drinks too, but not everyone in the theater has to hear us opening/eating them.

I honestly want someone who does this to explain why they think it is "okay" or justified?

(If you have experienced this from the "victim" end, please share as well.

I made the poll private, so you can be honest.

That's the main reason we don't go out to movies anymore.

We have a real "home theater" now. Large screen TV, with theater seating for 12, and even a popcorn and slushie machine, to complete the effect. However, sometimes you just still want that "big theater experience", or need to see the movie everyone is talking about that "just came out".....so we go. Mostly still enjoy it (except for that rare occurrence like with these jerks).

Meh. Whenever that happens I just remind myself that they paid for the ability to do that. I don't go to the movies much anymore, though, so it doesn't really bother me.

I try not to let that stuff bother me too much. Sometimes, I scurry to open my candy so I'm not that person, but when it's over and over again, it's annoying.

I try not to do that, but I'd also like to enjoy some snacks while I watch my movie. Sometimes my wrappers crinkle, and sometimes I have a moment of slurp at the end of a slushie. I try my best to keep it all quiet, though.

I avoid making any noises or distractions during a movie. I hate it when others do it.

We never buy food at the theater. I'm more bothered by the talkers at the movies.

I am unfortunately one of those people, mainly because I usually bring food to a movie theater(yes it is frowned upon, but a large popcorn and soda is 20$ in my area, and that is more of the crime than anything). I usually make a lot of noise when I first open the bag of popcorn and can of soda, but I'm pretty quiet after that. I hate it more when people are giggling and laughing soooooo loud during a horror movie and just doing stupid crap. My one friend has told me about using my dim lighted cell phone(on silent, no vibration even). I respect other people when I go to a movie theater and do not appreciate being told about using a cell phone or laughing loud during a comedy.

I try to open my candy and stuff before the movie starts. If not then I try to be a quiet as possible. I hate when people are loud in the theater.

i'm usually through with my snacks before the movie even starts, to be honest :'(
it's not hard to be quiet about that stuff tho, so i don't know why people wouldnt take the effort. it seems it'd be as much a distraction to themselves as everyone else.
