I was a fan a while back, but kind of sort of gave up on them. I haven't heard the new album yet. I was much more excited about the Mumford and Sons album that just came out, wowzers, good stuff!
"American Idiot" and "21st Century Breakdown" were truly epic, solid concept albums. This last one seems more like a collection of b-sides from their albums before AI

Heard it at youtube. I think there's nothing left in the tank for them. It was a good run though.
I like it, honestly that was what they were trying for was to sound like their older albums such as Dookie and I think they hit it on the head. I've been a fan of theirs since I was younger, listening to my sister's Green Day CD's. I'm a fan of raw punk music, and though they're not really punk, I still love their sound.
I haven't listened yet. I haven't bothered, since I wasn't too thrilled with their latest single. I miss the old Green Day. They've always been so good at being either funny and sarcastic or epic and political, and the last song I heard didn't seem to be either so meh.
I'm almost done with it and really not too impressed with it.
Thoughts?
I stopped listening after American Idiot. I think the stuff that has been come out the last few years is lacking. Also, I have to agree with MrWishyWashy...the new M&S album is much more exciting.
