girl crush song

Just curious on everyone's thoughts bout the new country song girl crush. Is it too much leaning towards the lesbian community or what? I don't understand why the music industry is so worried bout this song but never said anything bout Katy Perry's song I kissed a girl

So what if it's a lesbian song, BUT it's not! It's a sad lady singing out her sorrow for losing her lover to a blonde-haired woman. People should listen to the lyrics more carefully before making their judgment! I bet the people who complained about this song are overly sensitive, closed-minded folks!

Everything I've read is saying that country music stations all over the country are pulling this song. But why didn't radio stations make a big deal bout Katy Perry's song? I don't see big deal over this song at all

Because those are "country" music stations ... they don't want to piss their majority of refined and stubborn "country" listeners off! Get it?

Katy Perry didn't get in trouble with her song because she's a pop music sensation from California, she doesn't have to cater to "country" folks.

Well I listen to country and I've listened to this song and it has nothing to do with the LGBTcommunity. I think the whole thing is ridiculous myself.

You might want to take a look at the Advocate article...
Los Tigres del Norte Are Making Gay Norteño History
The beloved norteño musicians are being recognized for their thoughtful take on gay love.
If the ultra-macho Latino community can accept a ballad about a lesbian teenager who falls in love with her best friend, then what is wrong with mainstream country music? Those "god fearing christians" who have a problem with LGBT people are the one's who are the problem.

There is nothing 'mainstream' about country music. It belongs to us folks in the South and whtever you want to call us there are certain things we just don't cotton to. Personally yes we may like the person....that's it.

Hey, Symbiasin, my husband and I listen to country music too; we have a country station preset in both our car stereos. I hope my previous postings didn't hurt your feeling, I'm not trying to say that all country music fans are close-minded, although some unquestionably behave that way! And honestly, those folks accusing that song falsely is extremely ridiculous!

Country music is a genre of American popular music that originated in Southern United States. Oh and btw even Chicago has US 99.5 country music radio station. Maybe I'll give that radio station a call and request "Girl Crush". But there's also the possibility that the controversy over Little Big Town‘s current single, “Girl Crush,” is mostly a media creation.

Yes, I am a card-carrying member of the LGBT community and very much do “promote the gay agenda”. Which just happens to be EQUALITY and absolutely not bowing down to be a second-class citizen.

Unfortunately, I don't know the song in debate. But, the last I knew, music is an art, which is also a form of expression. It's sad when any genre has forced stipulations. I say let the song play. I think the people in the world need to focus more on their lives and less on other's. The people trying to block this song from the radio have way too much time on their hands.

Ok, I just heard the song and watched Little Big Town perform on Ellen. I have to say that I don't feel that there is anything Lesbian about this song. As others have said, its a song about love and loss.

Why are some people so up in arms about this? The words clearly tell the story of a lady who has lost her lover to another blond woman with a nice smile, a magic touch and who wears perfume.

Also, "...gay agenda", that is an interesting discussion for another thread...

Perhaps you are not "looking for the gay" in some hidden meaning behind the lyrics of a song because you are self-assured in your own sexuality?

I meant I've never heard of this song. From the content of this thread I gathered that it is by the band Little Big Town, which is a band played on mainstream country radio. So I was just surprised I've never heard about this and the apparent controversy surrounding it. I'm curious now and plan on looking up the song.
