So any one here watch the new HBO series game of thrones?

For those who don't know game of throes is a new fantasy series that debuted on HBO last week, here is the website: link . It based on a series of book which I've never heard of till now

I watched the pilot and I'm intrigued. One big thing about the show has been discussion about issue of misogyny and racism. I agree with some of these critiques the Dothraki have been portrayed as nothing more then dark skin savages TWOP has a thread with a long discussion of these issues: link .

btw, Putting aside all the racial issues I also didn't like how poorly staged the public sex part of the Dothraki orgy scene was. I couldn't tell it was supposed to be public sex. It just looked like dry hump dance maneuvers. It wasn't until two guys started fighting to the death over it that I though otherwise and even then I still had to go online to confirm. Although I do watch a lot of group sex porn, so maybe I'm just hard to please

It looks interesting but I'll wait for the season to come out on DVD via Netflix since I don't like subscribing to HBO.

HUUUGE fangirl of the series here. I have yet to watch any episodes due to issues with my DVR. I have read the series A Song of Ice And Fire by George R.R. Martin and was very excited to hear that they were developing this into a series for television. Especially since it would be done by HBO (cable could get away with doing most of what really goes on in the novels- lots of sex and violence) and having one of my favorite yummy actors as the patriarch Eddard Stark is awesome. I just hope HBO will be able to complete the entire series- not just A Game of Thrones.

The books themselves are heavy reads- very dense and long. So for people that do not like to read thick books this should be a pass. But for someone who wants a deep and interesting story full of drama, backstabbing, sex, greed, and violence this is a must.

I'm a bit sad that HBO is only going with a 10 episode series, instead of 12. I think the first 2 episodes have been well handled and the current pacing shouldn't have overly much squishing or cutting of relevant plot points.
