...so is anyone going to watch the remake coming up on Lifetime? Did anyone read any of the books while they were growing up? Love it, hate it, indifferent...never heard of it?

Glad you asked! Flowers in the Attic is the first novel in a series written by V.C. Andrews. The central characters are Corrine, Cathy, Chris, Corrie and Carrie. Corrine is the mother, the four others are her children. These children are born out of an incestuous marriage between Corrine and her half-uncle, Christopher. They have the four kids and all is peachy. Except one night Christopher dies in a tragic car accident and Corrine is forced to take the kids to her mother's house.

I have never heard of it. What is it about ?
Corrine's father is elderly and dying and they devise a plan so that he never finds out about his grandchildren. The plan is to keep the children hidden in the attic until he passes. Corrine then stands to inherit his fortune and promises to come back for the kids. Except, she doesn't. She remarries and leaves the kids behind.
If I tell you any more than that it will ruin the entire ending of the story, but it's (imo) a very gripping read.
I was obsessed with V.C. Andrews' novels as a teen. But, almost all of her novels involve some sort of extreme trauma or theme of incest to some degree. And not in the creepy, "he touched me in my sleep" kind of way, but in the "we're attracted to each other and can't help it" kind of way.

I read them all several times. I was a big fan of hers until she passed and they got the pseudo writer. I haven't decided about watching the movie yet or not.

Sounds interesting. Movie remakes don't do justice for good books. I'll try to find the book.

Oh yeah... those later books that she didn't actually write were pretty awful.

This version is supposed to be pretty true to the book. I'm kind of excited about it.

I read the book when I was younger and liked it. I never really did like the film adaption of it. Felt too much much was changed and cut out. Might have to check out the remake though.

Yeah that was my problem with the original film version -- too much of the important stuff was left out and they focused on Corrie and that stupid rat way tooo much. However, word on the street is that the remake is so true to the book they had trouble getting a couple of scenes approved.

What other V.C. Andrews series did you all read?
I was enthralled with The Landry Series.
