Me too. E-books cause too much strain.

E-book is nice for the convenience (and because it's easier to store smut), but I prefer paperback as a default.

Paper. I'm not too big into technology.

For reading for a purpose, definitely on paper -- you can write on it.
But I think E-reader would be a better travel item. I've never really used an E-reader for long, so I can't say. I've read entire books on my laptop before, which was nice in the dark, but I think I would prefer paper if I had to write on the paper.

I LOVE my Nook 2nd generation. It's a lot cheaper to download eBooks than read actual paper books when most of what you read are classics (and can be downloaded free).

I prefer paper books to e-books. My major issue with e-readers is that the pages do not load fast enough when you "turn" them. I'm a fast reader and the loading time breaks my flow. For lack of a better word, e-readers are less immersive to me than paper books.

I my Kindle. I read mainly in bed, and man, it's way easier to hold. I'm reading a hardcover book right now that was lent to me and I find it difficult to get in a comfortable position to hold the thing. I don't have to go searching for a book I may have left elsewhere. I don't have to store books, and then pack and move them when I move. The Kindle lending library is a joy.

Paper so that I can take notes/earmark pages. Also, there have been studies showing that people retain less information when they're reading something on a screen.
That said, I can see myself getting an e-reader someday just for the convenience. I'd never give up my books, though!

I got the cheap old nook for Christmas last year and I love it. I drag it with me everywhere and I'm a convert

I don't really read much any more but I would rather have a book.

I like paper, honestly.

Paper, but I have a nook simple touch so I don't need 10 or so bookshelves

I choose other because I have both an eReader (last year's version of the Kindle) and a solid collection of books. I would advise an eReader if you move frequently or want flexibility when traveling.

I like paper better for at home, but I would like an e reader for travelling.

I love being able to touch, hold, carry and loan out a book! It's important to me to interact physically with it. I feel like I remember and enjoy the experience of the book better/more.

I prefer paper, but I have no problem reading on my kindle. I usually save my kindle for the gym, or if my dad gifts me an amazon gift card. Then I can get multiple books. I have a ton of real books, and will continue to buy them. I have the feeling that one day they'll be vigorously "phased out", as we're having to pay for paper bags in some areas of California.

I love my kindle paperwhite, and the kindle keyboard version I had before that. I still get certain series and art history specific books as printed books, but if I'd buy it as a paperback I'm likely to purchase the ebook instead.

I use my Nook more, but I prefer a printed book for a few reasons. So far, they are easier on my eye because, with my lighting, they are more warm than the e-reader screen, or even a computer screen. My biggest problem is that the e-books were supposed to be cheaper & then they made it so we cannot legally sell it or even let anyone else read it, ever! (some, like B&N, now have a lend it feature, but I don't understand how they can break the law & we can't?) I have issues with having to use energy & the toxic ingredients used in them, in making them & in the batteries, but all electronics fall into this category. I don't know if it's better than the energy & waste used printing all those books, but I doubt it. Finally, unless I build a Faraday cage, all info stored on any electronic device is going to go, *poof* & the world will come to a screeching halt if we get hit with a solar flare - and I won't even be able to read in the meantime if I only have e-books!

I can read an ebook, but nothing beats holding it in your hand and flipping the pages.
04/18/2013
I'll take both, but I prefer paper
04/18/2013
I might be old-fashioned, but definitely paper.

eBooks are better for convenience when you're out and about but man, there is something about holding a real paper book in your hands that can't be beat. The smell of old books and being excited to go to a real library and bookstore to pick one out. Relaxing in the bathtub with a book and not having to worry about it being fried if you drop it in. Real books are less straining on the eyes and idk there is something magical to me about actual books that eBooks don't have. Maybe it's partly a nostalgic quality.
