I have a Kindle and it was one of the best purchases I ever made. The one I have they now refer to as the keyboard one. If you are thinking about a fire I would read a lot of reviews about it because there are some issues I've heard about that you may want to think about first.

I had a kindle and I loved it. I just like real books better, holding them in my hand, smelling them, the whole experience of them.

I have a Toshiba Thrive with the Kindle app. Love it. would recommend getting a tablet, as they are more versatile.

I like real books better, but I use a Nook for fanfiction, and it's more book-like that way than reading it on a computer screen. It is my understanding that the Kindle requires one extra step when it comes to adding fanfiction to it, while the Nook can download directly from several of the most popular fanfiction sites.

I like the Nooks... word is out if I'm going to buy one or not.

I have a thrive as well, and though they are nice because you can do all kinds of things with them, I would recommend the nook because it is smaller and easier/lighter to carry around all the time.

I love my Kindle Fire. I post here from it all the time. I like that I get an e-reader with some of the functions of a tablet.

I have several versions of the kindle, including the very first model. But I might recomend getting a tablet and just instaling the kindle app. I read on my phone that way sometimes.

I love my nook, though the difference is reasonably academic. Think they can both read the other one's ebooks

I got the Kindle and it's pretty good, still annoyed though that they didn't include the mini-USB wire, makes no sense that you have to buy it separately.

I bought a Nook SimpleTouch which I have really enjoyed so far. The main selling points for me were a long battery life (which has held mostly true) and the versatility in terms of formats it will read - you don't have to rely on a proprietary format like Kindles have, which I think would annoy me. If I had to do it over again I would probably buy a Sony ereader instead just so it wouldn't be tied to a specific bookstore or whatever, since I rarely buy ebooks but instead get them from the library or elsewhere online. Overall I really really love my ereader though!

I have a kindle fire. It works great, but honestly I prefer the good old fashion books. My friends and family make fun of me cause I have a kindle, but still carry around books.

I have a Nook Tablet and I like it a lot. The screen is intensely sharp and it's fantastic for reading, day or night, plus web surfing, email, watching movies, messing around on twitter and facebook, and streaming music.

The only thing I dislike about it is that you're limited to apps available in the Nook store. It's also a little on the slow side for internet but not so much that it makes the experience unpleasant - it's just not as fast as my laptop.

I'm lusting after my mom's Kindle Fire... The Android tablet with Kindle and Nook apps also sounds cool.

I have an iPad and a Nook Simple Touch, my other half has a Kindle Fire and one of the Kindle 3G e-reader. We definitely prefer the dedicated e-readers because they are easier on the eyes. I had the Nook app on my iPad, but I deleted because it was just uncomfortable reading on the backlit screen for long hours. I picked the Nook because it accepts more file types than the Kindle, but other than that there isn't that big of a difference.

I'd go with an iPad in case I wanted to read something with large pages and lots of graphics. Comic books don't look right on small screens.
