Do you think some networks are pushing the limits on how far they go?

Hubby and I were watching American Horror Story tonight on FX and he made the comment on how risque they're getting lately. So I replied that it had been that way for a while.

So, what do you guys think? Do you agree that some networks are pushing their limits? Do you think that they're seeing how far they'll be able to go?

I know just 5-10 years ago they weren't allowed to do/show some of the things they do today.

Kinda? I think in a different way than you're implying, though...

I think most all TV channels have been crossing the line for years now. The exact reason I stopped watching hardly any TV at all. There's nothing good in it. Almost all of it is really disgusting filth. Everyone's trying too hard with the "shock factor" for more views and that stuff does not interest me. I used to love those Lifetime shows though. The adventures of Old Christine is one of my favorite shows and Reba! I've not sat down and actually sat through a show in a very long time though.

Yes I think they are going farther.

I'm shocked by how much sex and violence is on tv. It only seems to escalate over the years.

I don't mind how much they show.

I thought this question was actually going to be political and question the things news casters were able to say and get away with, and the same for elected officials, not the amount of sex that's shown....

I was going to say I moderately minded that, but the more sex, some more options, to me

I'm not known to be very prudish, but I'm honestly SHOCKED by what is allowed on TV these days...

Boundaries are meant to be pushed, and I think that TV's finally pushing its puritanically tight boundaries. Shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men would be way weaker if their creators didn't want to try challenging these boundaries, so I think boundary-pushing is a great thing for artistic expression.

I don't mind more "adult" content, but no need for it on primetime, or aimed at younger audiences...which is happening more and more.

They're trying, but I think they could try even harder. True Blood is doing a good job...
