I always see this and it kinda baffles me. Mainly because it's so loud in these book stores when I go. How in the hell can someone sit down and read. The worst part is when I walk down an isle and see someone sitting on the floor and reading! Does this drive you nuts or are you one of those people?
Do you sit and read books at book stores?

No, I don't do that. It doesn't bother me, though it would if I owned the store. I'll flip through a book to see if it interests me but I'm not standing there reading chapters. (this was when there was actually a real book store in our town BTW)

I've never really gotten a chance to. Every time I get to I'm usually caught up in looking at what there is that I tend to have to hurry off and make my buys.
Though not too many bookstores I know give areas to give a quick look over a book, so unless you'd want stand in one spot and in other people's way it's a bit hard.

No, I prefer to read eBooks at home.

I read the entire book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks at a book store.....because I was interested enough to read the whole book but.....lacking in funds.

Yup

I don't mind it if people want to read books in the store if they're not making a pest of themselves. The individuals who treat the store like it's their living room on the other hand can get on my nerves. The worst thing for me is when I see people reading the books and consuming something that could clearly damage them (eg: chips, coffee, candy, etc).
01/25/2013
I used to sometimes.
01/25/2013
I do it occasionally, but if I really want to read the whole thing I just buy it and read it elsewhere.
01/25/2013
No, I think that's very odd when people do that.
01/25/2013
I have not been to a book store in so long. I also would not sit at the store and read the book either.
01/26/2013
books, no. Magazines, yes. Though I did at least find a chair or table to do it!

I either stand in front of the shelf I took the book off of and read a little bit, or if I'm reading a lot and am I worried about being in anyone's way, I go find a place to sit. Gotta make sure I'll actually like the book I'm thinking of buying!

Yes, I like to read a bit of the book before I buy it. I never read the whole thing though.
01/27/2013
I flip though books and look at the front and back covers. I still love the book stores.
01/27/2013
No I never sit and read in the store.
01/27/2013
I used to, but haven't done that in years now.
01/27/2013
I totally do that! I'll start flipping through a book in the aisle to see if I like it, and before I know it I'm reading the thing. After a few minutes I'll sit down to get more comfortable, and the next thing you know I'm 3 chapters in and I've been there for 40 minutes!
01/27/2013
I do all the time! It's relaxing.
01/28/2013
I do pretty much every time I go into a bookstore.
01/30/2013
Yes, I'm guilty of this.
01/30/2013
Haha I'm one of those assholes.
01/30/2013
I don't, but I'd like to. Our Barnes and Noble is actually very quiet so it's comfortable to read in there.
02/01/2013
I use to but then I moved and where I live at the book stores don't allow it. But I know order from online cause it's a tiny town so the bookstore is tiny and don't have much choices in my favorite genre.
02/01/2013
No, I don't do this, because I have a hard time focusing, and my mind seems to rush me to hurry up and get out of the store. I do mind a bit when people sit in the isles, especially when there are usually places provided for sitting and reading.

I used to do this a lot more often: picking up a few different books on the self and then finding a quite place to read (usually in the children's area) and if there were no sets avalible i would find an asile with no foot traffic coming threw it and read to my hearts content since i usually wouldnt actually have the funds to get the books i wanted. i do agree with DAngr though, some people can be disrespectful making a mess and potentially damaging books, but for the most part i dont see it being a problem. some people want to know what they are getting before they buy, kind of like how many people here ask for feed back on product and check out reviews before they make a purchase.

Sometimes.
It depends. If my dad's taking forever in the bookstore and I'm stuck there, I'll read. If my family's at a mall where the bookstore is the only store I like, I'll just stay there and read, or wander the mall for steps on my pedometer.
If I'm iffy about a purchase and want to be sureeee I want the book, I'll start reading the first chapter or so. It depends.

Nah. I find that annoying. If you don't want to pay for the book, go to the library.
