Well, happy endings always calm my trembling little heart, but dramatic, sad endings are much more desired for some stories sometimes... :):):) ^^
Do you prefer stories (movies, books) with happy ending or sad ending? :)

i prefer happy endings in stories ther is to many sad endings in real life
04/26/2012
Right off the bat, I would say happy... but then when I think about it.. some of the best stories I've read are sad ones... SO BOTH!!
04/26/2012
It depends on the story, one of the worst things that can happen is when I author tries to force an ending happy or sad that doesn't fit what came before it.
04/26/2012
I can't help it. I'm a sucker for happy endings, even if I know it's not realistic.
04/26/2012
Really depends on what you're watching/reading. In the back of my head I'm always rooting for a happy ending, but a lot of the time it seems unrealistic.
04/26/2012
My first reaction was happy endings, and I really am a sucker for happy endings, but it really does depend on the story. Some of my favorite books have sad endings that work really well for them where a happy ending would have just been really out of place.
04/26/2012
I need happily ever after, anything else makes me pissy, although I do have to say I love the sad episodes of Doctor Who, sometimes they're just done so well...
04/26/2012
It really depends but mostly happy endings.
04/27/2012
Depends on the story. Like with The Mist....it ended so right!! Just devastating but moving!!

I prefer realism, and hate all the happy endings tacked onto otherwise decent stories (I assume for sales, since many demand it).
04/27/2012
I prefer endings that are right for the stories.
04/28/2012
Happy.
04/28/2012
Happy or semi-happy endings are the most satisfying to me. Like, sad things may happen in the end but I like a good resolution. For example, in a good book I read recently the main character died at the end so it was technically sad but the character got what he wanted before he died and went out happy so it was still a happy ending to me. I mean, it was pretty clear from the beginning that he was going to die so this was the best possible ending for the situation.

I prefer a good read over a happy ending or sad ending.

I don't care what the story is, I always prefer happy endings. Sad endings are such a bummer.
05/10/2012
It depends on the story I guess. I don't like happy endings that feel forced.
05/10/2012
I love tragedy and I love real life. I love the unpredictable. I want stories to feel real and not predictable.
I don't care about the endings, I love happy sometimes, and I love sad sometimes. As long as it feels real, I am good!!!

It depends on the story, and my mood. A happy ending that just screams deus ex machina is so much worse than a fitting sad ending.

I just like movies with definite endings, Some movies just don't end, its like they stopped a story mid paragraph, that I can't handle, but happy or sad I'm usually good (though I may cry) just so long as it ends
05/12/2012
It really depends. Of course, I'd prefer a happy ending, but not if it is out of place, or if a sad ending makes a point. Bitter-sweet is always a good way to go.
05/13/2012
I like stories where the bad guys win.
05/13/2012
Either or it depends on the story I'm reading.
05/14/2012
I prefer happy endings.
05/18/2012
I love happy endings
05/19/2012
It definitely depends on the story and my mood. On the whole, though, I would say the stories that are the most thought-provoking and moving to me are ones with sad endings.
05/19/2012
This reminded me of a quote from Doctor Who (not sure why). "I love old things. They make me feel sad...It's happy for deep people." That being said, I think the best endings are a mix of the two or fall outside of the realm of "sad" and "happy."
05/21/2012
Really it just depends on the story. But I'd prefer happy ending movies. I always hate when your pulling for something to happen and then it doesn't.
05/23/2012
It depends on the story. Sometimes if every story has a happy ending it just seems too unrealistic. I will say that I love happy endings more.
One thing I hate is when a story has no finite ending. The ones where you are left to make up your own mind as to how the story officially ends. I hate that and think it's a cop out.

I say sad ending because for the longest time, all horror movies for some reason no matter how unrealistic it was, had happy endings, I like the ones with sad endings because it is much more realistic. Why is it that we always have to escape the bad guy? Or survive the disease? Or get back together with our one true love?

It depends on the story, but we know not every story can be happily ever after.

Depends on the story!
06/06/2012
I prefer happy endings. Sad endings stick with me and affect my mood for much too long after.
06/06/2012
Usually I like a happy ending (no pun intended), but some stories have to have an unhappy ending (ex. Braveheart).

I prefer happy endings but it really does depend on the story you are reading.

I generally like sad endings or bittwersweet endings since I usually opt for dramas and psychological films, but there are exceptions where a happy ending is completely called for, I'll admit... I'm just not often keen on the kind of stories and movies they're appropriate for.

I preffer movies and books that have BELIEVABLE endings, I like to feel like I can somewhat relate to the movie or book and I'd like to think how it would end if I were in those shoes and believe me all those happy ending movies wouldnt end so happy if I was the main character lol I'd stay getting shitted on because life doesnt always have a happy ending.
12/14/2012
It depends what mood I am in and what I am expecting from the movie. Nothing annoys me more than to go see a romantic comedy and want to get a typical romance and in the end the characters don't end up together, but they "learned a lesson." I hate that. I am going to see a romantic comedy for a reason- to have a happy ending. But I do love a good sad movie every once in a while- they make me think!
12/14/2012
I prefer stories that have appropriate endings. If I'm reading a sad book and the author pulls a happy ending out of thin air, I'm going to be disappointed.
12/15/2012
Cat E.
I voted 'I don't care', as in I don't mind a sad ending.
12/15/2012
Happy endings. I prefer them, but I do enjoy stories with sad endings once in a while.
12/15/2012
For me it depends on the story and what kind of mood I'm in. I really enjoy a sad ending when I'm upset but usually I like happy endings.

I love unexpected or especially dramatic endings be they happy or sad

I prefer happy endings, but if the story is really good and the ending makes sense I'm ok with a different type.

Whatever makes for a better story.

I like a surprise.
01/17/2013
I'm a pretty self-centered person and like any story I can relate to, which is mostly sad stories.

01/22/2013
For me real life has had far too many sad endings. I much prefer happy endings anymore, even if they are merely fiction.

It depends on the story, but I tend to prefer sadder endings. They just seem more realistic to me.

Depends on the story.
01/23/2013
Some movies need happy endings and some need sad ones.
01/23/2013
I think I'm more moved by meaningful endings where the movie or book ends and leaves me with something very deep or introspective to mull over. That "a ha!" lightbulb moment is priceless.
01/23/2013
Depends...
01/23/2013
No preference.
I think some may think an ending is sad, while others may read the same story and think it's happy. I also think sometimes endings can make me mad moreso, than either

Depends on the story. I prefer the more ambiguous endings when possible!
02/06/2013
The ending doesn't make a story, but rather the story itself.
02/06/2013
Happy mostly. I'll admit that some stories have to have a sad ending, but I prefer a happy one.
02/06/2013
Happy endings!!
02/12/2013
Prefer happy endings but it really does depend on the story. For example...
SPOLIER ALERT
The ending of Dear John, though sad and bitter sweet suited the story.
