I just joined a choir for the first time in years. We had our concert last night, and the whole experience made me remember how much I LOVE to sing! How about you?
Do you like to sing?

I used to sing a whole lot. I was part of my school choir, was accepted at the county level, and then went on to sing with a university sponsor choral while in high school. But I was put down a lot by my mother and people who thought I wasn't diva enough. I may not be the next American Idol but I was definitely good at group performances.
Now I've slipped away from it since college because they were openly hostile to anyone who didn't fit into their little box from joining their groups. But I sing my heart out in the car to and from work and find myself singing quietly to myself a lot. And sometimes when I'm talking to myself, I do it in a sing-song way.
I'm considering singing something for the EF Music group thing but I'm not sure yet.

I used to go to kareoke all the time and thought I did pretty well until two of my closest friends practically paid me to never sing again. I was so heartbroken that I haven't been since but I still sing at home and along with the radio.

*hugs* I so know how you feel. I was in the school chorus from 8th grade until 10th grade. We went to Festival every year and scored 1's across the board. My mother went to our Christmas concert and after it was promptly stated we all sounded like dying cats. I dropped the class the next day.

I'm not very good, but I looooove Karaoke!

I've been convicted of being tone deaf. That doesn't stop me from singing whenever I feel like it.
A friend of mine once said that, even though I can't really sing that well, it was still ok, because it let them sing and they know they can't sing that well either.

I sing most of the time, especially if I'm in a good mood. In fact, at the moment I am singing It's a Small World After All because I just saw the new FunFactory clit vibe and it reminded me of Mickey Mouse.
My youngest yells at me, because she has some sensory issues and even though people say I have a decent good voice, she can't stand noise of any kind (with the exception of the constant weird noises she makes) She's always yelling at me, "MA! You're singing about the dishes. Do you have to sing about everything you are doing?" My Man used to tease me, "P'Gell, life is not an Opera!" Yeah, but....

Only when no one is around.

I like too but I'm really not good at it and yeah...no nice way to put it I just suck at it lol I have a terrible singing voice.

I'm mostly by myself or with my husband, but I'll get up and do karaoke every now and then
01/25/2011
I love to sing but I'm terrible so I usually restrict myself to the car.

*hugs!* I'm so sorry. I so relate. There needs to be more support in the world, especially from people we're vulnerable to like mothers.

P'Gell - I SO sing to myself like that! If I can't find my car keys, I walk around the house singing, "Ohhhhh car keeeeys, how I loooong to find yooouuuu."

I'm pretty shameless about singing. I'm always getting teased for singing, humming, or whistling at the most absurd times.

I sing a lot. If it's not a real song then I'm making one up, singing some wordless harmony or melody or, on occasions that I'm in a really good mood, tapping, beating or slapping a drum line on a random flat surface (or the tops of my thighs if nothing is available.)
When I was really little we were really broke. The only thing that my parents had for entertainment was a record player and the receiver for it had one of those old bouncing green bar type equalizers on it. In the evenings they would turn off the lights to save money and I would pull up on the shelf the receiver was on (I was too little to stand without holding on to anything) and dance and play with the bouncing bars. My parents sang all of the time so I grew up in a musical household, albeit a divided one (Mom was a Peter, Paul and Mary hippie and dad was a Molly Hatchet kind of guy.) I'm ok without TV but without music? Hell no. I'd kill someone before the weekend was out.

I love to sing. I used to be in choir in school, and I would never 'karioke it' anymore, but love to sing along to the radio.

Such talents do not run in my family in the least. I never sing. If I did it would be like sandpaper rubbing on the ears, besides I have no ability to remember lyrics even if I wanted to.

I love to sing. In high school I was in both Chorus and Select Choir. I HATE singing by myself in front of people though. I had a solo in a musical once and I was physically sick because I was so nervous. I have recently progressed to Rockband, Lips etc. Apparently if I'm earning imaginary points for singing, it doesn't scare me as much. A few drinks help too.

I really like to sing when I am by myself in my apartment or when I am in the car. However, I do understand that I am not a good singer lol and I do it just for my entertainment and not other people's.

I used to sing in elementary school, and was pretty good for a kid. Haha. But I became painfully shy at some point, and stopped singing around anyone. When I started playing Rock Band a couple of years ago, I could beat all the songs on Expert, so I kind of felt like I had hard evidence that I wasn't so bad. So now I'll play Rock Band in front of anyone, and I may sing along with the radio or something, but I'm still mostly pretty shy about it.

I love to sing! It's my favorite hobby.

I love to sing. It's just that I suck at it.

Can't sing and to spare myself and others the agony i will hum under my breath if i feel i have to.

I love to sing, and I get compliments a lot, but I know I am not that great.

I sing when I'm drinking on karaokee night..that's about it

Spent education years in school choir and doing musicals, always as a soprano ... then I hit 19 and my voice changed (yeah, I'm a girl, WTF?) and I thought I couldn't sing anymore, so I stopped.
Then it was discovered I became a mezzo-alto, and I simply changed all the notes I used.
This weekend I became a member of a friend's band because they needed a strong voice that could stay on key. So ... shy, wallflower Chilipepper is a rock singer.

I love to sing. I used to have no confidence in my voice until I did some singing for a producer. I have a couple of songs released on cd and mp3 from that venture and now I sing a lot.

Go you!!! I was a first soprano all through my school years too (the highest possible singing notes for anyone not familiar ) and now my face has settled to a mid to low soprano with a much longer range in the lower notes while still being most comfortable in the mid-range soprano area. But I bet your mezzo-alto voice sounds terrific!!!

The only time I sing is trying to put my 5 month old down. It usually works, but I'm not sure if he just can't stand it or if he likes it.

I sing all the time and I do sing for events sometimes. I'm considered professional now that I've done a wedding with my best friend and gotten paid. I've been singing since I was 2 or 3. I absolutely love it

I can't carry a tune in a bucket! LOL!!
