I either rent the dvd or watch the movie on demand. Watching Games of Thrones right now.

Yes, if the movie is one that we particularly like, then we want to have a DVD or HiDef copy in case we can't stream it on Netflix or lose the download.

none of the 3 apply to me. I get Premium cable channels that I usually get free quite frequently.

Only porn, we like porno's in DVD form

Netflix's bitrate doesn't match that of a Blu-ray. The difference is noticable on my home theater setup.

Ever since I've had Netflix, I sold my dvd player and now all I use is my computer to run movies from. It's easy and it's very portable.

I Netflix almost always.

Torrents always

Renting from Netflix makes much more sense for me.

MissK
Netflix or neither. I tend to torrent + burn to a DVD since I am terribly broke these days.

I torrent... glad to see I'm not the only one in this thread!

Exactly. My BluRay movies are far, far better quality on our 60 inch home theater.

Had to vote other because I never really ever buy pre-recorded movies on any format. (I have had both VHS and Beta machines). Technology changes pretty fast so eventually you will have to replace your movies on DVD/Blue Ray with the next format. That said. I rent from Redbox, borrow from the local library (free) Netflix and Amazom primarily.
Side note, the next "format" is already here. Instead of the standard 1080p, TVs are now being produced to display 2160p, four times the resolution of Blue Ray. I do not know of any sources for 2160p yet.

Netflix all the way.

Although mainstream content would readily be upgraded to the latest format, plenty of VHS movies aren't out on DVD and plenty of DVDs aren't out on Blu-ray. Also, many standard definition DVDs (e.g. TV shows, porn) weren't shot on film so they don't have a higher resolution transfer in their future. Likewise, plenty of Blu-ray content was shot at 1080p and won't have an upgraded format.

We have Netflix, but still buy dvds too. We rarely buy dvds throughout the year, but buy a ton during the holiday season when somewhat newer releases are really cheap.

I will buy a DVD or bluray if I really liked the movie or television show. Otherwise, I'll watch it on Netflix or on TV if it's on.
