I'm answering in terms of books that actually have good movies, because I still prefer the book. It just has so much more time and space to give you more information.

Obviously, I also prefer the book when the movie is shit.

Whenever I am asked this question, I always say books because for the most part, I always like the book better. A 250 page book will have more of a story line because the reader can take it at their own pace but a movie can only be so long and only include so much.

The only real exception to the rule are books like Twilight. I thought that Bella was really whiny and I figured out the entire story line of the last book within the first two pages. I like the movies better because there is less of a monologue from Bella.

Both are nice. Must say I like a book a bit better. But both are nice.

I love books and find they leave out parts I would include in a movie or get creative on something that didn't happen in a book.

With Fifty Shades of Grey, I liked the book better than the movie. With Allegiant, I like the movie more than the book. I all depends on the changes they make between the two really, though if they don't make changes then it would depend on the acting and directing of the movie.
