Death Note if you haven't seen it. It's kinda twisted and an all around mind fuck from what I remember.

I mostly like harem/slice of life/romantic comedy anime so other than death note, I'm basically useless for recommendations.

Elfen Lied, Death Note, Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.

A good, bloody anime move is Blood: The Last Vampire.

I love all genres, to be honest. I'm a big fan of some of the ones like Death Note, DBZ, and so many others

Death Note was awesome! Granted, there's a point where it goes downhill (those of us who watched it know where). Did you watch the (dubbed) movies from japan?

Shin-shan was quite funny. aside from that, there was case closed (detective conan) shaman king, Zatch Bell, FLCL, One Piece (until they changed all of the voices)yu yu hakisho and others I can't think of at the moment.

Lol, I've seen so much anime I've pretty much lost count. In-fact, I'm sure if I tried to sit down and recall every single one I've seen, I wouldn't be able to do it. ;3
Y'all should look up some different anime other than boring Death Note or whatever else you just find on TV/Netflix. Those are all only a tiny portion of the amazing shows that are out there.
For example, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is like the anime version of Star Trek. It's an AMAZING space opera/military drama. One I love that's on Netflix in Japanese (which is always how you should watch it!) is Monster. It's a mature mystery/crime drama, and it's also a classic. :3

All of the above, plus Durarara, Baccano!, Devil May Cry, and there was an anime made out of the American TV show, Supernatural. If it lives up to the show, it should be gritty, violent, and intelligent.

I like a lot of different anime; they don't have to be bloody.
Death note was great. A couple other good ones that are bloody are Vampire Hunter D, Darker than Black (Netflix has this), and Iria: Zeiram the Animation.

I bought my brother Afro Samuri for holiday, I don't know if it is any good or not. We watched Wolf's Rain together and liked it

Sailor Moon will always be my first love as it was my 'gateway drug'

Violent & Bloody: Devil May Cry (yes, they made an anime out of it!), Pet Shop Of Horrors (Freaky as fuck...) or Elfen Lied.

I love anime. Sailor Moon was my first anime. Dubbed and on YTV. Good times.

I'm mostly fond of slice-of-life comedies like Lucky Star and Hidamari Sketch, but my tastes can be pretty eclectic. Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei was hilarious and lovably bizarre at times.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is extremely popular, and I really, really enjoyed it. It really put a different spin on the traditional magical girl anime.
I occasionally opt for darker themed shows, such as Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl), Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, and the like.

That's all I can think of for now.

Deadman Wonderland! It's amazing. One of my favorites and definitely bloody and twisted. I enjoy Black Butler too.

Elfen Lied, Death Note, Gurren Lagann, and Black Butler are all ones that I would highly recommend. If you want something strange and weird, I'd recommend FLCL.
