90s Music

Contributor: Virgingasms Virgingasms
I just posted a question that lead to the Spice Girls even though it had nothing to do with them and it made me wonder what 90s music my fellow Edenites enjoyed.

I was born in the 90s, so I grew up on the radio friendly pop like the Spice Girls, N*Sync, and Backstreet Boys. It wasn't until I was about 12 I started listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Green Day and even later that I started listening to band like Reel Big Fish.

What kind of 90s music to you jive to?

LOVE NSync, even now, and Oasis is awesome, too.

(and Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, Britney Spears...might have to go pull up a 90s station on Pandora now, lol)

The 90s were the best! Such an inventive time. I was very grunge/ stoner rock/ alternative at the time, but I've grown to appreciate Public Enemy.

A lot of the greatest Death metal albums are all from the early and mid 90's from Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary... Death!

The Spin Doctors and Third Eye Blind! I was born in the 90s, and while I grew out of a lot of the music (Aaron Carter, Britney Spears, etc) a lot of it still sticks.

I'd also like to toss in a vote for Less Than Jake and the Bare Naked Ladies!

Until I really got into my pre-teen years, I mostly listened to classic rock because that's what my parents listened to. I was all about The Backstreet Boys (my first concert, lol), NSYNC, 98 degrees, Britney Spears, The Spice Girls, Hanson, TLC, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey...

Now I listen to mainly only to classic rock and country. I like the modern country music, but I think the 70's and 80's had the BEST rock music. I was born too late

During my first year of university, Monday nights were 90's nights at a club about 10 minutes away from our residence hall. They played episodes of Saved by the Bell on mute and always had the best old jams. One of my favorites is Mambo Number Five, simply because I realized how completely awful the lyrics were when I heard it as a college student. I still can't believe that it fell into the category of "radio-friendly pop," as you call it.

I was more into finding underground rock bands at the time. And being from Texas was in a great place to do so. The Union Underground was one of my favorites from the 90's

That's pretty much my list too, except for butthurt-allica and Ozzy "Where the hell am I and why am I still alive" Osbourne.

The Pixies could be an 80's band.

I'm listening to poe now. Man, that woman is incredible! Too bad she was treated so poorly by her label!

I have a 90's station on my Spotify (which is way better than Pandora, imho).

I did listen to pop like Nsync, Spice Girls, etc.
I also listened to a lot of Eve 6, Savage Garden, Celine Dion, Lenny Kravitz, and other alternative music.
And I've never been a big country fan, but I did love Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks too.

I loved Nirvana in middle school. I don't seek out much alt rock any more, but I still enjoy Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam and some RHCP.

Oh, Beasties had a hell of a run in the 90s. I still am bummed about MCA. They always had a great live show.
