I'm not a drinker, so New Years will just be a simple toast.
Is drinking "more alcohol then usual" part of your New Year plans.
12/16/2012
I'm not going to drink on New Year's.
12/16/2012
I am getting too old to get crazy!
12/16/2012
I definitely plan to drink more than usual on New Year's. For me, however, that means I may actually have one drink (if I even finish one). I typically only drink if I go out with other friends who are, and that's very rarely. It's probably been 6 months since I've had any alcohol, maybe longer.
12/16/2012
Well, I legally can this year so I intend to party it up!
12/16/2012
It's a party, so...sure!
12/16/2012
Depends on what I'm doing that evening. But got to be safe first.
12/16/2012
not much
12/16/2012
I don't drink on New Years, mainly because I am working that night. If I wasn't I would probably have a few drinks.
12/16/2012
19, so I can't drink. I don't drink anyway because I see it as a waste...I studied alcohol for a biology project and none of it is worth it. I don't see why people have to "socially drink" to want to hang out with each other over the holidays but if there is no alcohol then no one is having a good time (I don't get why).
12/16/2012
I plan on drinking a lot.

I might, might have a drink, but that will be it.

I drink the same about on New Years as I would any other time I drink

That's not always true, and I would wait until you are old enough to actually experience social drinking before you write it off as a "waste." It's not for everyone, but for those of us that find it fun and enjoyable, we certainly don't see it as a waste. I'm a big wine and beer fan, and there are entire cultures and enthusiasts that enjoy different kinds of alcohol. When you become an adult, most people don't not have a good time if no alcohol is around, because overindulgence isn't the key.

Social drinking has been around since ancient cultures starting fermenting things and discovered alcohol. There is a reason for that.

I drink quite often, so New Year's may not be any different!
12/16/2012
I hardly ever drink anymore. so if I drink at all it'll already be more than usual lol. but yeah I might just get drunk
12/16/2012
I don't really drink as it is, so New Year's Eve is no different.
12/16/2012
Nope. I don't drink.

I'll have a couple of Martinis with my steak at dinner, then I'll have a glass of champagne with my wife to toast the new year.
12/18/2012
I might drink some
12/22/2012
Well, seeing as I've reduced my regular alcohol intake to zero, and I intend to have a couple of liqueurs over Christmas / New Year, yes I will be drinking more than usual.

That sounds just about perfect--I want steak, martinis and champagne!

I don't drink in excess very often, but New Years is one of the few times I do.

Unless we are at a party and are handed a glass of champagne, the odds are we would not order alcoholic beverages. Hot cocoa...oh yah!!!!

That is a good question. I think they meant people drink "much more then usual", but looking at the poll results here, that sure is not the case with the EF crowd!

I tend to drink about 1.75L of wine that is 6% alcohol when I drink. I usually just drink the whole bottle to myself. I rarely drink anything other than that. I will most likely be drinking a bottle of wine. I've been drinking a little more often even if it's a glass or two after a stressful day with the kids. Helps me sleep and giggle instead of pull my hair out.

We laughed hard reading your post. A friend (much younger friend) went out with their out of town buddies who came to visit. He told us he was the DD for the night. When we went and visited him the next day (he lives two door down and works with us), he was "shit faced). We asked him..."we thought you were the DD". He replied "I was"!!! I was the "designated drunk" for the evening.

My typical New Year's plans include watching the Sy-Fy channel's Twilight Zone marathon and ringing in the new year with Dick Clark, but that's obviously not going to happen this year.
My fiance and I will probably stay up all night watching Twilight Zone and making cookies, and that sounds perfect to me.
