We use a fake one but I love real ones.
For those celebrating Christmas: REAL or FAKE tree?
08/10/2011
fake is just so much easier. we used to do real, but it's just too messy!

I like fake trees- no vacuuming up countless pine needles or keeping it fresh!

I'm allergic to real trees </3

The only reason to have a tree at all is for the scent... plastic just hasn't got pitch.

Fake tree. Not as much as a fire hazard.

I love real trees. They remind of being small and hiking through snow with my father at a tree farm. We picked a tree, cut it down, and hauled it home. I love that live tree smell! Unfortunately, I live in an apartment with limited space, so I have a smaller fake tree.

With a cat (who recently passed),3 dogs, and grandchildren; (the children have all left home), we don't really need a large tree any more. We have a small artifical tree that we decorated a few years ago, then took down, wrapped in a sheet and stored in the basement. Each year since, we unwrap it, finish the setup and place it on a card table. It is artifical with a revolvin glight in the bottom, and a couple of strings of blinking lights on the tree. A real tree is nice, just no longer practical for us.

Bingo. After a few decades of expensive real trees...at a high price and with a big cleanup issue....fake is VERY nice.

I know there's something awesome about having the real tree, but honestly, unless it's in my yard, there's something much more awesome about not having to clean up after it, lol

Honest advice. We did this one time, with a nice, new white car. It cost $1200 to have the scratches buffed out and painted and there were still two spots on the roof damaged by sap we did not see that had eaten through the clear coat AND paint. They would have cost another $800 had we decided to paint the entire roof....the only option to really match these two inch round damaged areas. Moral of the story...CAREFUL with real trees on car surfaces.

You know, that is the ONE factor about "real" that seems to evoke the MOST response...the SMELL. What a powerful emotion trigger that is!!!!

Does seem the EF "family" likes those Fake trees overwhelmingly if I count correctly. It may explain why there are less and less "real" tree dealers by the roadside every year.

I wouldn't be surprised that lower demand for live trees is a factor. I got my pre-lit fake tree at Wal-Mart for $40, and I have used it year after year. In this economy, it probably makes more sense for people to purchased a inexpensive fake tree and use it over and over again.

Real. I just love the smell

We use a fake tree just because it's easier and cheaper.

My family's had mostly fake ones.

I get a fake tree every year because if I get a real one I get sick. Used to get sick from the real ones all the time when I was a kid.

I am fake trees all the way. (It is my personal goal in life to own a pink or silver tree. I'm pretty tacky ^_^) I hate all the critters that come in with a real tree and it just gets ruined by my cats..

I always do a fake tree. Cheaper and not toxic for the cats.

Nothing beats the smell of a real tree. I can't wait to get a little tree with my boyfriend this year. Super cute!

A fake tree

Fake, with a scented candle in the room somewhere, haha.

I have two real xmas trees on my front lawn but I get a little fake white one to put inside my living room..

We had a fake tree for a while because my Mum had reactions to real trees. Past couple of years we've had real ones and Mum has been well. She's taking allergy shots now too, anyway.

Fake, I barely do Christmas.

Fake is easier and I can put it up for a longer time.

I have to have a real tree, even if I am cleaning up pine needles into March.
