No package yet. I've been following the tracking all day and it says "out for delivery." Yet it is almost 7:00 p.m. and it's still not here . . .

I received the package I was expecting today! I just have to make a couple of exchanges and returns tomorrow. Once I have all the items squared away, I'll photograph it all and post the photos before I do the wrapping!

Okay, here is where we currently stand:

I am supposed to deliver the packages and food to the family either this Saturday or Sunday. I have found someone who speaks Spanish with whom I can meet tomorrow afternoon so that this person can call the family (in my presence) to set up a time for delivery. I am also going to have this person ask the parents if they have a television because the toy that I bought the son is a Plug 'n Play game (at the suggestion of many young men I "interviewed," LOL!).

I am in the midst of trying to locate a different toy for the older girl. (I'd read some reviews on the toy I had bought for her after my purchase that indicate that it breaks too easily.) The toy I bought for the baby is a singing plush puppy that says the names of colors, numbers, and letters. I chose this toy because the mother had requested an "educational" toy with music, letters, and numbers for the baby.

For each child, I purchased:

1 sherpa-lined, hooded jacket
2 pair of pants (one pair of jeans each and a pair of cute, colored pants each)
1 pair of pajamas
At least 4 shirts*

*For the older two children, I purchased four shirts (one shirt is a solid white shirt which I placed under another shirt in the photos -- so it might look like only three shirts at first glance). For the baby, I purchased an adorable boxed set of seven long-sleeved onesies (so they stay tucked into her jeans/pants better). The onesies have the days of the week embroidered on them and are just precious.

I bought almost everything on Black Friday to take advantage of half-price sales, so I got (IMO) great prices on everything.

Here's the loot I picked up for the 1 year old little girl (it doesn't look there is as much stuff as it does for the older kids, but that's because everything is just so tiny!):

Here's the stuff for the 6 year old little boy:

And, finally, the goodies for the 7 year old little girl:

I also purchased a vacuum cleaner for the family (gotta keep the floors clean for a hygienic place for the kiddos to play!), but I haven't taken a photo of it yet because it still resides in my trunk where it was placed the day I purchased it. (I live upstairs and dread lugging it up to wrap it, LOL!)

I also have 3 $15 gift cards to Payless Shoe Source so the parents can buy shoes to fit each child.

Oh, and I really hope the parents will be able to have me come by on Saturday, the very first day that "Santa's Workshop" will be open, so I will have the cream of the crop amongst which to choose a toy for each child from the city-wide toy drive!

And remember: Santa's Workshop will give me a month's supply of food to take to the family so that they will enjoy a wonderful holiday meal and not worry about groceries for weeks to come.

Thanks, everybody!

Latest update: We are ON for this Saturday morning! I'll be picking up the one month's supply of food at the warehouse and scouring it to see if there is an appropriate toy for each child that I can snag to take along with what I've already bought. I should be making the delivery to the family somewhere between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

I'm about to head out to see if I can get a toy for the older girl. Then I'll photograph the new toy, alongside the vacuum cleaner, and post it. THEN it's time to do some gift wrapping!

I made the delivery of food and presents to the family on Saturday morning and everything went really well. I don't want to go into too much detail on this thread since I will soon be submitting a story about this experience to EdenCafe. I'll link to the story as soon as it is available.

Anyway, I did promise photos of the vacuum cleaner and the little girl's toy (for which I had exchanged a toy I'd bought for her earlier).

After reading several reviews and talking to lots of young people, I was astonished to learn that Pac Man still reigns; so, I got her a Pac Man Plug 'n Play.

Both of the older kids received Plug 'n Plays (the older boy got a Sponge Bob racing game that is very popular). There are several games on the Pac Man Plug 'n Play (I'm not sure how many are on the Sponge Bob racing game). But the word is that the two I chose for them are very, very popular and entertaining, so these games should keep them happy and interested for a long period of time. Plus, they can share their games and enjoy playing together.

I was going to make sugar cookies for the family until I saw a gingerbread house kit that I just loved. I can easily imagine the whole family being involved in building this and applying the Skittles and M&M adornments! This sounded so much more fun than just eating sugar cookies (unless, of course, the kiddos got to be involved in the actual making of said sugar cookies)! Anyway, here's the photo of the gingerbread kit, their three $15 gift cards to Payless Shoe Source, their family Christmas card, and some batteries I picked up to power their toys (we all know how irritating it is not to have batteries for our toys when we want to play with them -- which is usually immediately!):

I was absolutely delighted to find the perfect Christmas card for a family with young children -- in Spanish!!!

I made sure to sign the name of every single one of you who donated to this family (I abbreviated some, in cases where it was obvious it was not a "real" name, LOL!). I appreciate your generosity so much (as does this family).

Just how generous has this community been? Well, a picture says a thousand words:

And that's all I have to say -- for now! (But stay tuned.)

Awww, I love that puppy, too. But, I'm even more glad to know that a little one loves it, too! That way I feel more confident that this little girl will love hers.

That shirt was my favorite, too! It's even more adorable in person because it has black velvet accents on the kitties. I found it for $7 online.

I meant to include this in my earlier post with the pictures.

Overall, we purchased:

3 sherpa-lined jackets
3 pairs of pajamas
6 pair of pants
15 shirts
1 vacuum cleaner
3 toys
Package of AA batteries
Gingerbread kit
Card

Various Plano Santas ministries donated:
3 toys
3 $15 Payless Shoe Source cards
1 month supply of food (5 boxes of food for the family, plus 1 box of baby food)

I delivered all of this to the family. It's a good thing my husband had to work and couldn't go because all the above took up every available spot in my car -- the passenger seat and floor board, the entire back seat, and the entire trunk.

Thank YOU to everybody! This was such an amazing privilege and I had so much fun doing this. I could have never done this without your generosity.

I did submit my (rather long) article, so I hope it will be published soon. (I'm afraid that I may be requested to cut some material to make it less lengthy though!)

Anyway, I have had a lot going on with my life revolving around school and some serious health issues in my immediate family that have kept me so anxious that I have been crippled with a SERIOUS case of writer's block. (For some reason, when I am worried and stressed, my creativity is severely hindered.) I hope to get caught up on some very overdue reviews that owe EF and I offer a public apology for the ridiculously long delay. I intend to finish every single one of my reviews this week.

Be sure to take care of your family and yourself first. Reviews can wait.

I can't wait to read your article. I cried like a baby when I read Mistress Kay's.
