I've looked at a lot of Contributers' blogs and they all looks so professional and nice and neat, with lots of followers and ads...can anyone help me start one? All I know is to start with Blogger or something. I'm looking for something low budget and/or free because I'm a cheap ass. Help?
I want a blog, but I'm computerally retarded.

Blogger is a good place to start, thats where I started. After I got used to it I switched to Wordpress so I could have more options. I am happy to help you with whatever you need. Do you have a title yet?

I'm not even going to consider an off-site blog. I spend enough time online as it is. Good luck!

Blogger is affiliated with Google. It's pretty easy to use.

Start with Blogger if you don't know anything. At first I had started mine on Wordpress, but I really had trouble with editing the information and have it look the way I wanted. I also found it easier to manage a social network with blogger, especially when you're just starting.

As for the professional look, I know that there are some cute templates that you can choose from with blogger and that are easily customizable, which is easier than using a template if you do not know anything about HTML. I personally use a template, but I had some knowledge about HTML. But then, even if you do not know anything, it's usually easy to find the information online.
As for the ads, well, it comes with being a partner and an affiliate. The website will provide the HTML code that you can just set on your site; we don't make our own ads, unless we are actually using someone's banner.

Thank you! I know a little about HTML from my MySpace days...this apparently isn't as hard as I thought it would be

No I don't have a title yet; that's what I'm working on now. I think I may start with Blogger first. It looks simple enough. Thanks for your help!

I'd have to second the suggestions for Blogger, that's the one I use and it suits all my cheap ass needs just fine, lol

Blogger's especially good now, because it now has a good editing portion for making the blog look really nice and pretty. Very easy to use, much more than it used to be.
I personally, however, like Wordpress, though I do not use Wordpress. I tried it out recently and said, "dammit," because it really is good. My blog is through Blogger though.

If I were starting over I'd probably use Wordpress because it has more options. Started with Blogger (which is probably the best start for someone who doesn't have experience).

Note that whatever you start with you will probably wind up staying with because you'll have built up a following and a reputation, and the word of mouth will be attached to the site name. As an alternative you can get a custom domain to point to your blog, which would be much better if you're ever going to move it around.

I use Blogger, it's pretty easy, you're limited a tad bit, but it's not overwhelming you with various options and the like. You can always move up to something else with time.
Need HTML help? I go here: link It's for kids sure, but it's very handy, I like it.

Just putting in my agreement with those who said Blogger. It's where I started with my blog, and I moved over to WordPress just December of last year. Like some have said, Blogger limits what you can do, but it's good for those just beginning blogging. Good luck!

I would start with WP.com. It's easy and doesn't have that google connection which eagle eyes adult content or puts up a warning page.

Blogger FTW! It's so easy to set up, customize, edit, etc!

I'm with Carrie Ann on this. The Google Connection will limit your chances for growth (and product reviews) because it can effect search engine rankings and visitor information. However, Wordpress.com also reserves the right to delete adult content, and from what I know (though I've never heard of it happening), they will delete some adult content.

While Blogger does have more social networking options, I did find that Wordpress.com grew with me better. It was easy and basic when I didn't want to deal with options, and when I did want to deal with options, there was a plug-in for basically anything I'd want. It's really up to you though. If you think Blogger will suit your needs, a lot of popular bloggers are still on it.

That is good to hear. I spent about an hour and a half last night trying to figure out how to add widgets and stuff like that. If I don't figure it out soon, I'm going back to blogger, lol
