So sorry I have been gone so long! What a busy couple of weeks it has been!
My busy story starts with the 3rd. My second sons' 6th birthday. Also, the day my best friend had her breast reduction surgery. That day was a mess. I had to bounce back and forth between making my baby's birthday awesome and helping my friend's husband get her home and comfortable. The day ended up going well with all the visitors and cake and 7 kids at my house. Success!
Next day, 4th of July I had to take my friend to her post-op appointment. She was very dehydrated and in more pain than necessary bc of it. I stayed with her at the clinic while she got 3 bags of fluids. She ended up staying here at my house all day so I could keep an eye on her. We had 10 adults and 7 kids (that includes 2 babies) here to watch the fireworks. Another busy and exhausting day.
Saturday, the 5th. Everything was going great, my parents and sisters had been staying with us and we're packing up to go home. My mother was being super helpful and gave the baby a bath for me. She forgot to brush the baby's hair so I reached for the brush and off goes baby! She was playing and being goofy like usual, and I chased after her playfully, as usual. I picked her up and mid swing, bam! My back jams up and I can barely move!
I immediately put the baby down and started crying. Initially I cried because it's been 3 whole years since my last steroid injection. 3 whole years since I've had back pain like this. I was pissed. I was so pissed. My husband then came to help me sit down on the couch. That's when I started crying bc of the pain. I could barely move my legs. It was terrifying and disappointing.
To sum up a super long, almost 9 year story...I fell down the stairs at 7 months pregnant with kid #1 and broke my tailbone. I went through heavy meds, physical therapy, more meds, more therapy, 3 steroid shots and 2 more pregnancies with this pain. I was diagnosed in 2008 with spondylosis, degenerative disc disease, and a bulging disc between L4-L5 and a completely broken coccyx. I don't think I would even wish this pain on my worst enemy.
I've gotten better over the past week. The pain is still there and hurts most when laying on my back or bending over. I've already seen the doctor and am scheduled for an mri on Tuesday. I have a strong feeling I've herniated the disc that used to be bulging. I hope the worst case scenario is another steroid shot. What terrifies me is that when I fell and broke my tailbone, I jumpstarted all these back issues that were already bound to my fate due to genes. I'm 27. The need for surgery is drawing closer. I just have to pray it's not now.
For all who were curious...I've been spending the past 7 days pushing through this pain and taking care of my kids without much medication. All I can really have is flexiril and aleve. Anything more than that and I can't function to take care of the kids.
I miss all of you!!! I feel you all deserved a reason for why I have been missing. I'm going to start getting caught up tomorrow. Thank you guys for the well wishes on my wall. it means more than you know!
