Most people said they get tested at their Health Dept. or Planned Parenthood clinic. I have to say this... A lot of those places are supposed to test women every 6-12 months and they don't. I'm not sure how so many women don't notice that they did not do a test for HIV, but a lot of people think it's included in the regular annual exam and the "dr." actually says nothing and you go home thinking you were tested.
The reason I mentioned that is just incase others think they've been, but aren't sure if their doctor actually did the test or not. I have been going to the same dang department for years and some of the nurses would automatically test me with my yearly and then I've came across some who acted like HIV tests don't exist and I EVEN had one nurse who said she tested me and gave me the usual "if we call in a week then we'll need to talk and if not, you're good!" I was like... LADY! You did not even test me! That's really a crappy thing to do and we need to be aware that doctors will do that. Needless to say, that nurse DID NOT last long.
So I get tested at the health department in my area because it's far more convenient than anywhere else. I've no idea why they don't make things easier in my area.

This is one of those things you have to ask for. So are the STD tests. The Dr. can't assume every single thing that someone needs, so it's up to a responsible, sexually active person to ask for the services needed.
I do agree that education would be incredibly helpful, because for the first couple years, I didn't know that when I went to the Dr., I had to ask for an HIV test- they just don't perform it on me. It would definitely reduce the spread of disease.
