Are we determining this based on when the person feels most comfortable or when OTHERS who will have to share said restroom will accept it?

I usually try and get a vibe for how I'm passing before deciding which restroom to use. I'm FTM, and if I'm not sure how I'm passing on any given day I'll err towards using the mens because even if they think a girl is in the mens room they aren't going to throw a stink about it like women do if they think a guys in the womens room.

If I pass, except if I know there is nobody in the toilets. Then, if I don't pass, I'll just say "well, there was no more toilet paper in the ladies'!"

this is almost verbatim what I was going to say
as long as you're comfortable and walk confidently, you'll be fine
guys don't look at each other in the men's room anyway

It's really just whenever you're comfortable, but take into account where you are and who you're with. Just be careful.

Just go when you're comfortable. I started when I pretty much got stares in the women's room so I sort of had no choice. A good idea is to try to go to men's rooms that aren't too busy first so you get used to it.

It is really a personal comfort. I am not on hormones and when I bind sometimes I pass sometimes I don't I really just go with how I feel. Regardless of which bathroom I go in I feel a bit awkward, but if you use a stall in men's room rarely do people question it.

I say just own it man. If a dudes concerned about another dude in the bathroom, hes the one with a problem. Do whats comfortable for you.

Just make sure you are comfortable and you feel like you will be safe. Other than that, there's not much that matters.

Depends for me on where I am. Some places I pass more than others--and some places are more cool with my not passing and using the men's room. I normally go male.

I think as soon as you pass in public its fine. Im pre anything and i use mens toilets because if i dont, i'd just get kicked out of the ladies! I just use the stools, and nobody ever questions anything.

It's all about safety! If you suspect there may be someone in the bathroom who knows you as another gender, use the one that they would think you should use. If you're in a restaurant and your waiter/waitress addresses you as male, you might want to use the male bathroom! Always keep your eyes out for neutral bathrooms (even family bathrooms work) just in case you need to use them.

Whenever you identify as male -- and you feel it's SAFE for you to do so. I think you SHOULD be allowed to do so whenever you feel that is correct for your gender identity, however, I urge you to take care of yourself and do so only in situations that you feel are comfortable and safe. There can be some scary and mean people out there.

Men tend to keep quiet and keep to themselves in the bathrooms, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Unless you feel particularly unsafe or it's a place where people are likely to have an issue (i.e. a bar, some sporting events), I would say go for it

So far things have been great. Still got a bit of a learning curve on my STP so I don't use that in bathrooms with stalls (just private bathrooms) but I haven't had any problem going into them and no one gave me a hard time.

I began using the mens room when I felt comfortable doing so. I switched before I started T, but I should note I always passed extremely well. It has been around 8 years now and I can say I never had a negative experience regarding bathroom usage. I picked the other category because I don't use an STP; stall guy here.

If you're passing in an area, use the men's bathroom. It'd be pretty horrible if everyone in a restaurant saw you as male and you used the female bathroom, that'd be a missed opportunity! But definitely if you are in an area where you grew up or people may know you and a guy you grew up with could be in the bathroom etc, then you should probably use the women's. My main problem now is that I'm in a similar situation as you, but I'm still in my home town and if one of my buds from high school was relieving himself at a urinal and I walked in bad things could happen.

I think the most important thing is to wait until you feel like it is right. Your gut will usually more or less tell you when it is time.

I only use the men's room where I feel realllly comfortable, like my school, which is very trans-friendly. But even then I usually use the women's because, honestly, it ~is~ usually cleaner and smells better. >< I hate upholding stereotypes like this...

Whenever you feel comfortable. I use male toilets 95% of the time (unless the cubicles are too disgusting, when I sneak off and hope no one notices me changing bathrooms).

I only pass 40% of the time, but in male toilets I pass more often because people assume that only men are in there.

Take it at your own pace, no one elses.

For me, it depends. If I am with my wife, I will go with her into the women's, especially if I need something from her, or need her with me.

It depends on your own comfort and your safety. I use the men's room when I feel it is safest, which means I must be binding and read as a man. Using the women's room is often unsafe for me. Oh, that awkward in between bladder infection stage. I stick to gender neutral bathrooms when I can. But if you feel safe, go for it. There's an unspoken rule of no eye contact. I'm sure you'll be fine, people care less than you'd think (in my area, anyway)

If you want to and you feel safe, have at it. It would be best to use it when you're dressing male, but that is all pretty gray. Make sure you're in a safe environment. That's the first concern.

It always tends to be up to how someone is feeling. I wouldn't go into either bathrooms for years, feeling that both were unwelcoming, sticking with either family bathrooms or waiting until I got home (sometimes hours). After I became comfortable with it, I just started using the females restroom, always dressed femininely.

it all depends on how comfortable you are with using the bathroom. Some people will question and sometimes it will make you uncomfortable. Judge by your own feelings

It depends how well you're passing, and if you pass 50% then I guess you could choose. There's no concrete rule, just do wherever you feel safest, I mean I know butch girls who use the men's room just because in women's rooms they get weird looks.

Just whenever you feel comfortable using the men's room. I've used the men's room since I came out as trans, and I have never used an STP and I don't intend on ever using one. I do prefer using gender neutral bathrooms if they're available though.

I probably wouldn't be uncomfortable with seeing someone who doesn't look that manly use the restroom, but i'd question it. As long as you were just doing business, go for it.

I'm going to echo the "do it when you feel comfortable" answer. There is never a right way to do things, just stay safe.
