What was your first trans support group?

Contributor: butts butts
If you have/had one, what was your first? Did you go to your local GLBTQ center? Did you find a forum online? Just curious about where we started out This is open to anyone, MtF, FtM, genderqueer, whatever, even if you don't consider yourself exactly "trans".

Strangely enough, mine was on Gaia Online back when I was in junior high Most of the people I knew on there have now moved onto Tumblr, it's kinda fun to watch us all grow up!

YouTube and Tumblr all the way! Plus my cisgender friends at school and stuff are totally supportive.

Definitely Tumblr. It's the only support group I've ever found that I was actually comfortable with.

The closest that I have are friends on Tumblr or World of Warcraft.

my first meatspace trans-specific one was really uncomfortable; they were all sooooo much older than me.

Uhh didn't really find a support group at all XD just sort of looked up information and found a lot of helpful information from articles on Tumblr and google search....
there isn't a LGBTQ center where I live... there are a couple of small groups that used to meet but... none of the contact information they have still works so there is essentially nothing "supportive" in my area... except for a couple of Gay/Lesbian Therapists that work inner city. Or that's what the contact described them as...

The Queer Youth Network was my first. It's sort of died out a bit but it use to be brilliant.

I made my own, which is now defunct, but had a good three year run, and I still talk to some of the guys I met on there on occasion, and I fell in love with a girl from there, and we've been on and off for about two and a half years now, and live very close to each other now.

YouTube and Tumblr were the first places where I found support - I am now part of an awesome club at my college that's for students on the trans* spectrum (and questioning folks) , so that's one of my main support groups now.

Tumblr, for real.
I don't know many trans* folks IRL.

Well I don't really remember the online one. But I started a support group for trans* youth in the area through my LGBTQ youth group.

The first group I went to was just one at a furry convention that pushed the idea that my insecurity about going full-time meant I was a fake... Then the one at my school, LGBT, refused to acknowledge me as a woman, and told me to my face I was just a man. So I stuck with just my friends, all the support I could ask for.
