Testosterone and Birth Control

Contributor: Rhiulan Rhiulan
Well, this might be a bit of a dumb question, but yes, I'm an FTM and I just took my second shot of testosterone and normally I would start my next regiment of birth control pills this Sunday but will I even need to? To be clear, the only reason I take it is to keep my cycle regular and prevent cramps, not for actual contraception. Also I'm stupid and totally forgot to ask my doctor during my appointment. So please, if anyone else is in the same situation let me know!

Call your doctor. We don't know anything about the medications you are taking and it's best not to take medical advice like this from strangers. A nurse will be more than happy to pass along a message and call you back when the doctor has provided an answer.

This exactly. Your nurse can have the Dr call you back.

Stop taking the birth control. That puts female hormones into your body. If you want, you could ask your doctor, but you really dont need to. It will make it take longer to have results on T while taking birth control plus its not healthy.

birth control = female hormones, so you'll want to stop that.

testosterone will eventually make your period go away.

i'm a bit surprised you went on testosterone without knowing this? you really should have asked your doctor about these basic things (or done your basic research) before starting HRT.
