How do you deal with ignorance?

Do you try to educate every schmuck who misgenders you? Sometimes I don't know what to say when people ask really direct and ignorant questions. What is your perspective?

There's a difference between an honest mistake and a schmuck. Lots of people just have a "gender binary" in their brain, it's what many people are brought up with. Usually, if a person misgenders someone they are embarrassed. It's awkward all around.

If someone's an ass, then they're not worth the time.

i just try to explain the situation as simply as possible. no complicated language, no deep, overly personal stuff. i try to do it as matter-of-factly as possible.

If people misgender me now days it's either because they knew me before transition, or because they didn't get a good look at me (I have a beard, but long hair). I don't worry about it because cis guys get misgendered too. I admit it does hurt when it's someone who knew me before because they should have their act together by now but there's nothing I can do other than remind them to use correct pronouns.

When I was just starting transition I did get a lot of ignorant questions, some were ok and I answered them (things like will your voice get deeper, will you grow a beard) but others I told them the question was out of line and ignored it (will you grow a dick, how do you pee, things like that)

I have not yet started testosterone so I get misgendered all of the time. A lot of people are super respectful, but every so often there is that one person. How I look at it is that I just see it objectively. If they really want to hurt me, all they will really do is make me stronger.

I don't even bother. I know they probably won't change their mind no matter how much I try to educate them.
