Cornstarch and packers

Contributor: sodapin sodapin
So many of you may have heard that cornstarch is often used to dust packers so they don't get too sticky. I'm wondering the following:

1.) Does this cause any irritation or infections?
2.) Does this stain the underwear in any way or leave a residue?
3.) Would it be ok to leave the packer in a ziplock bag with cornstarch for an extended period of time or would that dry it out and damage it?

Any alternatives and suggestions are welcome thanks!

I've used cornstarch on my packers.

I've used other materials/methods on my packers (please explain below).
I don't own a packer or my packer doesn't require dusting.

I let it sit overnight with the cornstarch and make sure it's mostly dusted off. that way over night it absorbs the stickiness. this reduces the amount of powder that rubs off in briefs.

Don't laugh but i've been meaning to try feminine hygiene powder as i saw a brand that is mostly cornstarch.

I have very sensitive skin and have no irritation, but direct contact is minimal cuz i wear a RodeoH

A little bit of cornstarch goes a long way and definitely takes care of the stickiness. I've never had any problem with residues on clothing from it.

Thanks for the replies! Also, I've heard of feminine hygiene powder working wonders as well and I actually saw a Gold Bond powder commercial and thought hmm <.< maybe this would work as well.

I'll have to put it in a sock or something because my underwear is too loose to keep it in place so maybe I'll update on here about the irritation and residue. Thanks .

I put mine in a ziploc with cornstarch and it's held up fine, even for long periods of time. It does get little smudges of corn starch on my packing strap and boxers sometimes, though.

Do the smudges come out after washing?

And great xD I currently keep mine in a ziploc with a bit of cornstarch in there so that's reassuring to hear that it's held up ok.

Oh yeah, totally! Cornstarch doesn't stain or mess with clothes that I've noticed, if it's dry you can generally just brush it off. It definitely comes out in the wash.

I'm waiting for mine to come in the mail and was trying to look for detailed instructions on how to care for it. can you use flour or something other than corn starch? do you wash it after you remove it from the corn starch? etc.

Usually, when you want to wash the packer, you wash it in water then lightly dab it dry with a towel. Afterwards, you dust it with cornstarch to remove the stickiness that often comes with this product (I personally haven't experienced it).

After corn starching, you can pack with it and after you're done packing you repeat the cleaning process.

Unfortunately, mine has gotten a tear near the balls and shaft probably due to the nature of how I pack (shaft poked through a hole in a sock and safety-pinned to underwear). Also, I think I might be slightly sensitive to cornstarch D: I got mildly itchy all over.

Alternatives to cornstarch would be potato starch or Goldbond powder, but I got a huge box of cornstarch from Walmart for like 4 bucks so I think it's cheapest. Don't use baby powder or talc because I've heard they can be harmful to your health.

Corn starch is totally safe and natural. It's talc or baby powder that you shouldn't use on that area.
