June is LGBTQ pride month and there are lots of Pride celebrations/festival/ parades all around the country. Have you been to a Pride celebration/parade? Are you planning on attending one this year? Why or why not?

I've been to a small Pride celebration back in my college town but this month I'm going to try to make it to Seattle Pride. I'm excited!

Never been and I won't be going this year. No big reason why. For one, I live nowhere near it anyways.

I have gone to NYC pride the past several years and initially my gf and I were planning ...and greatly looking forward to...going this year. However, due to the recent despicable hate crimes in Manhattan, as well as the indiscriminate shooting rampages that keep showing up in the news , we are probably going to skip NYC pride and just go to the local, small, upstate NY town Pride events.

I know that not going because of fear is kind of viewed as letting the homophobes win, but really....if I am an anxious wreck the whole time, it is going to take all of the fun out of an otherwise amazing, exciting, fascinating experience. Considering that and the inevitable expense involved with traveling 90 miles each way, it just isn't worth it to us.

But, it makes me sad because (A) hatred is such an ugly thing and is still so prevalent and (B) the feeling of love and acceptance at the NYC parade is simply unbeatable.

I use to work at Disney and it was during Pride Week I am not going but I do support equal rights
