I find it offensive, to the point where I have asked the people close to me not to use it because I find it so offensive.
Thats so gay Offensive?

I find the term quite offensive. I'm like "you know what's so gay, bitch? I'm so gay."

Offensive!! :O I have gotten into a yelling match with family over this and similar things...

I think it's pretty offensive. Whenever people say they, they're talking about something in a negative way and I think that's wrong. There's nothing bad or negative about being gay!
05/06/2011
yes offensive

I posted no. Now don't everyone gang up on me... but I see it as a pop culture word. For instance, when someone says "OH MY GOD" and they use God's name in vain. Most people look past that - it's an expression.
Gay didn't always mean homosexual until quite recently in the world. That's another example of pop culture. The times are changing, and so are the words.
Fag used to be a cigarette or a cigar. Now it is a derogatory term for a homosexual male. But in other countries, the word fag is still popularly used as a term for cigarettes. The Polish side of my family has always referred to cigarettes as fags, and still do to this day.
Then you have the "You're so retarded". The "What's up my nigguh?" and so on... They are just words. If they aren't said in order to put down a gay person, then it doesn't really apply to them.
This doesn't mean someone isn't free to take offense to it. Everyone feels differently. I just think people need to learn to somewhat understand that words are just words, and look past it. I have said this term every now and then when something really crazy happens. Even most of my homosexual friends say this. I try not to say it just because I'm watching the way I speak, but I don't think it's a huge deal.

So if I strolled on up you and said 'Hey cunt, how's it going?' that'd be perfectly fine? How about if you heard someone else greet a friend in that fashion? I hear it all the time around town here. What if my tone was perfectly amiable and friendly, would that change anything?

Words are the only way we can truly communicate; that their meaning has changed with popular usage does not reduce how offensive they can be.

STEALING IT... because I deal with this a lot in my real life stuff... great way to sum it up.

There are so many other ways of saying you dislike or find something untasteful that don't have the risk.

I'm personally offended by it, and I often correct people when they say it.
05/11/2011
Personally, I don't find it offensive, but I totally understand when people do.
I think it can depend on the person and context in which the phrase is being used as well.

I honestly don't feel that it's offensive. I think there are ways people can make it offensive. I have gay friends and I use that expression around them all the time and no one knows the difference. It's actually kind of funny because they use it as well. I think people at times can be a little too sensitive about things.
I get irritated if someone calls me out about saying the word "retarded". A lot of people use that expression and honestly I don't use it in an offensive way. I don't make fun of anyone or condone any type of bullying, but like I said earlier, I think people are too sensitive sometimes. Either that or they are only wanting to cause drama. less

Yes, it's offensive.

I do understand why it is offensive to some, and I never want my words to hurt or offend someone. I don't see a good reason to ever say it simply because there are many other unoffensive terms you can use if you just explore the English language a little bit.

It offends me, yes, for that reason right there ^
08/03/2011
I personally find it incredibly offensive. It is 100% homophobic. By saying "that's gay" in a negative fashion, you are saying that homosexuality is something which is bad. Personally, whenever I hear someone say it, I stop them. I gently explain why it's so offensive. A lot of people say it without even thinking.
