I have heard sex will stop a migraine from coming on if caught early enough. Anybody able to confirm or deny? I get bad ones and will try anything lol
Sex stops migraines

Doesn't work for me. The motion sometimes makes it worse. Sometimes it has no effect either way. It never has made them better.

I don't know about migraines, but if I have a slight headache/coughing/sore throat thing going on, I usually feel better during and after sex for a while. As in, the symptoms are alleviated for a bit

Not for me

Only thing that helps my migraines is caffeine and sleep. I've heard orgasms are supposed to help, but I'm usually feeling too bad to try this theory out.
02/25/2012
Can't test theory, my migraines are bad enough I don't get out to meet anyone nor maintain any relationship.

I've never found sex good for migraines. At times good for a sore head though

No, doesn't work for me. Sometimes a light headache. I get horrible migraines and all I want to do is lay down, light and sound kill me.

I think this is more true for men? I dunno, I know sex releases endorphins and they kill pain so it could be temporary relief... perhaps if you had mind-blowing sex it could kill an intense migraine but just screwing super quick probably won't. But everyone is different so things that work for some people don't work for others.

Sex releases the hormone oxytocin. Most hormones (ex adrenaline) have many different effects. The doctors are still trying to figure out exactly all of the effects that oxytocin has on the brain. Some studies dating back to the late 1990s indicate that there may be a link between reduced headaches and sex. As for me, no such luck...

Exactly what Hallmar82 said. Sex releases endorphins as well, which are known to help with pain. I've never had it all out STOP a migraine, but I have had it help release some of the tension so that I could relax and get to sleep. Usually I need to sleep to get rid of my migraine, and often it is too painful for me to pass out, so I have definitely used sex/masturbation to help my body calm down enough to do what I need to do to get rid of my headache.

It can trigger them in me...

It makes them worst for me.

Doesn't do me much good either, primarily because I find myself tensing during sex (I mean really, who doesn't at points?) and the end result is that I have exacerbated things.
My migraines are usually the ones where you start hearing people like they're down a well, and the misty fog starts at the periphery of your vision and closes in until you're almost unable to see. The head throbs and aches, and will usually do so until I throw up at least once or twice. Then, for whatever reason, it feels a bit better immediately afterward.
I used to use Excedrin Migraine and cold packs until they took the Excedrin off the shelves. Found out later that CVS pharmacy's version of Excedrin Migraine actually has the exact same stuff and plan on trying it next time I have one.

I don't know about migraines but I know it helps with my headaches that I get.

It's never stopped a migraine for me, but it does temporarily relieve my headaches.

It works for me...but only during sex. After, I get my headache right back.

It doesn't work for me at all. I just get more nauseous from all the motion.

My boyfriend will not have sex with me during a headache. I believe what they say about the migraines and sex is about redirecting blood flow early on to relieve pressure, but that would have to be very early on and precise. You're better off drinking water and taking a nice bath.

I find that Sex will delay the onset for about 45 minutes at best.

Migraines suck. I had heard this from a male friend who is plagued with migraines frequently. I had a ridiculous migraine last month and thought I have nothing to lose by giving it a try. It took forever, but as I got closer to orgasm, I noticed that the intensity had died down. Unfortunately, my relief from the headache did not last. Within a few minutes, it was back. At least I got something out of it!

I find that sleep is the only pain relief that works well for me. Sometimes vomiting helps, but once you start, its difficult to stop.
