Pole dancing is it a show of strength or shame?

How do you think people view pole dancing? I love to do it but I get strange looks when I say its a hobby. People think its something cheap or overally sexual when obviously as seen in this video it can also be a feat of strength and flexibility

I think pole dancing is freaking awesome, and if you can do it, then it's definitely a sign that your body is physically strong, and you possess the finesse and grace required to move and hold yourself in the required positions. I say more power to you!

I am impressed by the strength and flexibility of pole dancers, but I have two major issues: the stripper heels and crotching the audience.

The high heels don't actually lend anything to the dance, and just look misplaced next to a pole dancer's small costume. While I understand the need for small underthings — skin contact helps the dancer grip the pole — her vulva does not need to be aimed at me. She can show off a split of greater than 180° or some other move without turning the audience into GYNs.

A disciplined art. The one time I went to a strip club, the only thing that really grabbed my attention is when the rare girl would work on the pole. It was beautiful to watch!

I began pole dancing over 20 years ago and it shouldn't matter what other's think. If you enjoy doing it, continue.. It is a great way to get exercise. I watched your video and if I had thought of some of those moves back when I was dancing. I would have been able to travel.. I was very impressed..

Even if it is sexual, that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it. Pole dancers, whether career or hobby, have amazing strength and flexibility. It is a very physically demanding activity. Its a great work out. You can do something you love to stay on shape or do something you hate, if you are doing something you love you are much more likely to stick with it.

I bellydance but I would love to learn to pole dance.

Strength.

I totally envy someone who can pole dance well.

If I knew somewhere I could get lessons for a good deal and if I could have a pole to practice on I totally would.

I don't care if you do it recreationally, as your primary job, etc. It's cool

It may be sexy but imo it's also like a sport. It takes a lot of strength and agility from what I've seen. I have lots of respect for people who can pole dance and I wish I could too.

I would say strength as well as confidence building. I did pole dancing last year and it was not easy. I considered it to be a great feat to be able to haul around my own body...gracefully of course

Absolutely strength! I've taken a couple classes and it is AWESOME! Such a huge confidence builder and a great workout. No shame whatsoever.

I say strength! It takes real confidence to be able to pole dance. I lack the grace and overall physical ability to do it, otherwise I'd love to try. I always find myself incredibly impressed, and very jealous of other people's ability to dance like that!

I just started lessons. It is strength, cordination and healthy for you. It is a great work out and confidence booster. I dont wear heels bc i dont do it for the sex appeal. i do wear the small clothes though, but u have to have skin contact. there is a difference between average strippers dancing the pole and actual pole fitness.

Pole dancing is amazing! I'm jealous of the strength and flexibility it takes, and wouldn't mind attending classes in order to get a fraction of that ab muscle.
