The well-known sex researcher Alfred Kinsey believed the terms heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual to be incomplete for describing human sexuality. Kinsey believed that sexual orientation could be viewed as a spectrum of behavior; you may be completely straight, completely gay, or somewhere in between (as Kinsey himself was). He developed a scale with seven categories. I'm curious to know how the Eden community is distributed on his scale. I'm also curious to know if this varies by gender. Thus, this poll! A couple of points...I know Kinsey's scale is flawed, but it works fairly well for most people, in my opinion. When I use the terms male and female, consider that a reference to the gender you most closely identify with. Also, I imagine some of you are thinking I should have posted this in the GLBT section, but I deliberately put it here, in the context of a broader discussion of sex in general because I feel it's of interest to everyone, not just people who consider themselves part of the GLBT community. Here's an online Kinsey Scale test and here's some more background on the Kinsey Scale. This is a private poll so your screen name won't be displayed (unless you leave a comment, obviously). Where do you fit on the Kinsey Scale?

I've kind of struggled with placing myself on the Kinsey scale. The truth is that I'm attracted to both (should I say all?) genders, but I don't really feel comfortable saying that my attraction is split 50/50.
Some days I feel more gay, some days I feel more straight, and some days I'm happy to identify as bisexual. I think that my sexuality is fluid, and flows from one point on the scale to another.

I feel discriminated against. I answered honestly, and I got: F The test failed to match you to a Kinsey Type profile. Either you answered some questions wrong, or you are a very unusual person

I'm a 2 and my husband is a 0 by Kinsey rating (he's a ten to me lol)
12/05/2012
Both me and the wife are 0
12/05/2012
I'm a 3
12/05/2012
I scored a zero, but I think the test is flawed. I have no interest in other men, yet there is something about the idea of a sexy shemale. No option for this on the Kinsey test.
12/05/2012
I am a female and I scored a one. I'd say it's accurate for personally .
12/05/2012
I voted before doing the test, I said I was a 1 but the test said 0. Makes sense though, even in 3 somes I have little to no interest in the other female, prefer MFM.
12/05/2012
I'm a 2. I probably shouldn't have posted the test. I found it accurate in my case, but I'm not sure why some of the questions are on there. The scale itself is fairly self-explanatory, in my opinion.
I do agree that it fails to cover the full 3D spectrum of human sexuality. Maybe I should do another poll on the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid, which attempts to be more precise. But I don't think it's perfect either.
One thing to keep in mind about the Kinsey Scale is that it was a first attempt to broaden understanding of human sexuality. Kinsey was a pioneer. In his day, few people talked openly about sex at all, and almost nobody was thinking beyond a strict heterosexual vs homosexual range of sexuality. I still find the scale useful as a starting point for most people to understand their sexuality.

I'm female and I scored a 2 on the test. I feel I'm more somewhere between a 1 and a 2 (1.5 maybe?)

I second the idea of making a thread about a more precise test.

I took an online test for the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid and scored a 1.29. You might find it interesting to try that test, too.

Cat E.
I voted for your first option. I'm hetero and have never ever wanted to 'mess' with another female.

I'm male and exclusively heterosexual. So I'm a zero on the Kinsey scale.

Yes, I know what you mean. Some days, I'm not attracted to men at all and other days I'm more attracted to (certain) men than I am to women. Over time I feel I understand myself well enough to say "this is me" when I read the description for 2 on the scale. That doesn't fit every day, but it fits very well if I consider my entire sexual history.

Fully hetero, though I have thought about as an academic exercise (not really interested)
