I think eye contact is very important. It adds an incredible level of intimacy. In my opinion, the difference between eye contact and no eye contact is the difference between love-making and a good screw. Without it sex would feel isolated and 'apart', while the whole point of sex is to be 'together'.

Now and then, but not all the time. Sometimes I just want to get lost in the moment and don't need eye contact, especially for hot, throw you against the wall fun. But for slow, passionate, connected time, it adds a whole new level of intimacy to the experience.
