Sex and Religion

Contributor: <3BF <3BF
Obviously you enjoy sex toys, self-pleasure, and probably the act of sex; otherwise you wouldn't be visiting Eden Fantasy. Just curious what religious views people have who do frequent toy stores, and if liberalism in the bedroom matches liberal religious views? How would you identify yourself in the realm of belief?

It usually doesn't bother me or cross over into my mind when we're in bed. Although, I think it does affect our thinking some of the time.

I'm not a religious person, but I do occasionally attend my family's church because they're very accepting and laid-back. We've had a homosexual deacon, our old reverend liked my dyed hair (pink and blue), and our new reverend is fully accepting of alternative beliefs, all sexualities, and even plays tabletop RPGs.

I'm spiritual, not religious.

I'm not part of any mainstream religion. I am more spiritual and base my beliefs on what I experience in that field.

I grew up conservative Catholic which meant that masturbation would send one to eternal hell flames if not sincerely repented before a priest and absolution given. Since college I've been completely turned off to religion.

Better that than completely turned off to sex!

I believe in god but I'm not "religious" really. I grew up going to church, but do not go anymore.

I'm a conservative Christian and have been for 40 years or so now (well - practically since birth - but its what I truly believe also).

I wouldn't say so much that I practice "religion" although I do go to church.

However, I do engage in a "relationship" with God if that makes sense. I try to have my daily quiet times with the Bible and prayer and I try to follow His leading.

I believe God made sex for our enjoyment and I know we're told in the New Testament that as a married couple we should not deny each other sexually except for certain limited reasons. I think God is honored when we as a couple enjoy each other sexually.

I do not believe in God and it has no effect on my sexual life. If we go to hell for touching ourselves that I must have a thrown waiting for me

I'm an atheist, but grew up having a strong faith and "relationship" with god. Sex happened pretty naturally for me after I deconverted.

i was raised Catholic, and am still religious (but do not believe in the Church institution and no longer attend), but i have my own faith and still regularly pray and ask for guidance.

being sexually free, recently, has helped me greatly with coming to terms with... everything really. it is natural, nothing to be ashamed of. and i've never been happier. my boyfriend will never really know how much he has truly helped me.

I was raised in church until my sister had a run-in with a church official. We stopped going. I wanted to go back. Something similar happened within the church but within the youth group pastor's family and that was the last time I stepped foot in a church.

I am of the belief there is a higher power, whether that's magnetic energy, a God, the flying speghetti monster or something else, I haven't a clue. I just know there's something bigger than me out there.

I am sure there is no specific description for sex toys in Main religious books. If any religious people denied it, then it is his\their own judjment.

I used to feel very guilty about masturbation and tried stopping many times. I actually confessed it so much to my parish priest (which was humiliating) that he decided I might have a demon inside me and said a prayer of exorcism. Now that I'm all growed up, and like a few of you here, a 'complete and utter atheist' I look back at those times with almost disbelief and horror at just how devastating conservative religion can be on the psyche.

I am a whole hearted atheist. I have been ever since I was 8 and was forced to go to Catholic Church for my whole life. And I don't feel guilty or bad for loving sex and sex toys. I am a responsible person who loves to help and give to other people. Why shouldn't I indulge in some sexual toys

I have gotten to the point where I do not like church. I will go if I'm with my parents and they really want to go, but I do not like it. I think that for the last several centuries, the Church has twisted the Bible to condemn people and control them.

For example the whole "spilling your seed" thing has to do with the fact that he didn't want to impregnate his brother's wife, not that he was masturbating. But it got twisted around to make it "wrong" to masturbate.

I still believe that there is a God and I still have my own personal journey with him, if you will, but I don't think there is as much condemnation in God as the Church or conservative, controlling people would have us believe.
