Sex after Surgery

Contributor: caffeinated caffeinated
Good morning, EdenFantasys!

I'm a college student in my twenties, and I had surgery to remove a large ovarian cyst (and my ovary... farewell, Righty) this Friday. If any of you have experience with having sex after abdominal surgery, I'd love to hear how long you waited before engaging in sexual activity again, if you had any issues starting out, etc.

Thank you so much!

I waited over a month to make sure I was healed.

Okay....sorry to go down this road, as I am sure you already know this, but your doctor is the one you should ask, and trust, to tell you the answer to that question. There are a LOT of variables, from the type of surgery, the approach and closure and any complications (or lack thereof) during the case. No one...no one here and no one on earth, but your surgeon, is in a better place to advise you on this, and please believe me, this is a normal question and they will cover it. Stick with their advice. Even if ten of the worlds best doctors were right here on EF answering your question (and I am sure they are, and will..ha, ha), the fact is, they don't know you or your case, and they are not the people seeing the specifics of your surgery. Your doctor is. Trust him or her and you will do great!!! By the way, "large ovarian cysts" are not at all uncommon and you may be very pleased at how well you do, and how quickly you are back to normal and healthy. College age is so healthy...and quick to recover from these things. Best wishes, and speedy recovery wishes from us.

Thank you so much! You're absolutely right that my doctor would have the final word on this. I'm still hopeful that I'll get to hear some stories of other people's experiences, if only to know that I'm not alone.
