What sort of body types do you prefer in a partner? Check all that apply. I tried to include a lot of options, but I know I'll inevitably miss some.

At first, I worried that some people's feelings may be hurt by this poll. However, I have enough faith in this community to believe that there will either be a wide range of answers, or that a lot of people will pick "It doesn't matter, as long as they're healthy!" or "It doesn't matter, as long as they're happy!"
I ask because I am recovering from an eating disorder, and I have strived for so long to be as thin as possible and dreaded being "fat", but I like women of all sizes. I have enjoyed sex with obese, overweight, muscular, skinny, and underweight women, and I have loved them all. I have very different standards for myself than for other women.
So many women are fooled into thinking that they are not attractive if they are not thin, but I never believed that. I think that different people have their own preferences, while some just don't care at all. There is no single 'attractive' prototype.

I chose two options: "The bigger the better". (I really have a thing for larger people!)
But I also chose "It doesn't matter, as long as they're healthy."
While I do find myself very attracted to large people, I've never (and would never!) turn down the opportunity to play with someone I liked based on body type. The most important things to me really are how well we get along, and how well our sexual preferences mesh.
But I also chose "It doesn't matter, as long as they're healthy."

Of course! I certainly hope that body type is not the only factor in a person's decision to have sex with someone!

I had a thing for bigger girls for a long, long time, and then I dated a girl who was underweight (no eating disorder, just bought cigarettes instead of food) and I liked her body too. Now I've learned to appreciate all body types.

There is a specific body type that I prefer, but it's not very important to me and I'm definintely willing to date people who don't fit my preference.

This is such a tough question for me. There's different things I look for in both men and women. But since I'm not in an open relationship, it's not really an issue for me. Plus, there are people that I'm attracted to for different reasons. In men, I am attracted to men in a huge range from Seth Green (small and nerdy, but really funny) to Jensen Ackles ("classically" attractive and very well-built). In women, I'm more attracted to queer, androgynous women like Daniela Sea and Jiz Lee (OMG... mmmm), but I do like some femme women. It varies. Again, it's not like I have the ability to seek this out so it's more of a non-issue.

I am attracted to people. I prefer thick women (ass, hips, thighs? Yum!) but no "preference" is going to stop me from finding someone attractive based on other things (intelligence, humor, activism, etc) and pursuing that attraction.

Well, I'm asking for tendencies you've observed, not empirical rules people use. Hopefully, people aren't that empirical when it comes to choosing a mate!

I like tall men who are happy and healthy and petite women (short mostly) who are confident, happy and healthy. The rest depends on the personality of the person as to whether I find them attractive.

I voted average - but I have a very liberal view of that term. Depending upon height - 20-30 lb above the 'ideal' is OK with me. I firmly believe that the 'ideal' is set too low in service to the multi-billion $ diet industry - they have a lot to gain by making 'normal' people feel fat!
I for one am not buying into the hype.

And the medical ideal (sometimes BMI=20, sometimes BMI=22) is totally different from the fashion 'ideal'.

I like tall and skinny dudes

If we are talking pure physical attraction and intelligence, personality...etc is set aside, I tend to prefer larger than average people. Men, I like tall and stocky, not necessarily muscular, but he has to have some meat on his bones. Women, I have been attracted to all sizes and shapes, but I do prefer curves. All of this taken into consideration, intelligence and passion is something I value far more than any physical attribute. You could be the most gorgeous person on the outside, but if you cannot hold an intelligent conversation and have no passion for anything, my initial attraction will fade quickly.
03/02/2011
I like curves on a woman. I'm not attracted to morbidly obese women, nor skeletally skinny women, but anything in between suits me.
03/03/2011
I've always dated curvy women with small breasts, but as I get older I tend to find myself more attracted to very petite women. Not that it matters, my tastes change far more often than my relationships ever have.
03/03/2011
I think I chose about 8 of the options. LOL I don't have a particular "type".
03/03/2011
When it comes to guys, I seriously have a thing for very skinny but nicely toned guys especially those with somewhat rugged features, but I have less of a "type" when it comes to girls. I find a very wide range of features/body types attractive when it comes to women, from very curvy to boyish and androgynous.

I don't have a specific body type that I look for at all. I love variety. I loved dating one of my guy's because he was in the ROTC. He was bigger, but it was really sexy seeing him get stronger and more confident over time...

Tall and slender yum
03/08/2011
I like them small but it really depends. As long as they are healthy and aint to skinny or to big then I am perfectly fine.
03/09/2011
Healthy is nice, but really body confidence can be more attractive than body type.
03/09/2011
I usually find myself more attracted to men that aren't too skinny but have a little meat on their bones. I don't usually take body type into consideration though.
03/09/2011
I chose the last one because next to everything else it doesn't matter. However, from a strictly visual point of view, I don't like very muscular men or women. It's a turn off. I like guys who are average. I don't care for the look of very skinny people, either; I do like looking at curves on women and meat on men. For me, I think there can be "too big" and that's usually where health comes into play.
03/10/2011
not to skinny not to big just right
03/11/2011
I prefer my partners to be healthy and to take care of their body.
03/11/2011
This is a fun survey I can totally picture people based on the body types described.
03/11/2011
I think that the female body is a complete work of art. I like small girls and big ladies. Now don't get me wrong, if you have a eating disorder that makes you 80 pounds or 400 pounds, that isn't sexy. But I think that there are amazingly beautiful women at almost any size.
03/11/2011
Women of shapes and sizes are amazing creatures. The female for is wonderful to look at. For me I find fuler figures more pleasing to be with. More to hold on to, and the feeling you are not going to break her. It's the uber skinny ladies I don't find all that pleasing..the ones where you can count there ribs..all of them.
03/12/2011
Very very interesting poll. One of the things I've found is that I'm interested in people of all body types as long as their bigger (taller, more full-figured, more muscular, whatever!) than I am.
