fun at the time, but a messy clean up!
Period Sex?
01/28/2011
For me, it depends on the period. Most of my periods are pretty bad, and I'm sore, swollen and crampy - so I'm just not interested in being touched. But this has been a really easy period, and we had a great time last night. There was a bit more clean up than normal afterwards, but I don't care about that stuff and neither does he! It's just a little bodily fluid.

But back to voting - it's a topic that makes many say "ew" but just as many refuse to let a little red body fluid ruin their fun. What's your take? And do you have more ideas on how to keep it cleaner, like the ones Nina had for us? If so, share! less

It really makes no difference to me but every boyfriend I have had has been repulsed by it. I really don't see the big deal since condoms will be used anyways.

i used to have more of an issue with it

I'll have sex whenever It doesn't matter to me
01/31/2011
One time I left a bloody hand print on the wall. I didn't see it that night with just the bathroom light on, but the next morning I woke up and was like... WTF?!
I remembered the night before and figured it out.

As long as you take your pill as directed (although you don't have to take your placebo (sugar) pills at all, but only the ones with an active ingredient) you will be protected from pregnancy. The Pill prevents ovulation all month, IF used as directed.

I'm just not usually that turned on when I'm on my period. But if I am turned on, I'm totally fine with having sex, and I don't think I've had a partner who hasn't also been ok with it. It's not like it's a gushing faucet once you take the tampon out; most times we hardly see any blood at all.
03/10/2011
I don't think it's a big deal at all. I've never had an experience where blood gets on the bed or anything else. Just a quick wipe off and shower afterwards and it's back to normal. Plus I'm all for helping the girl out with her cramps.
03/10/2011
very interesting about the sponges. but no. never tried it and don't want to. only anal or blow jobs!
03/10/2011
no way i have horrible cramps so its not an option

I'm glad this poll was posted. I thought maybe I was a little weird for not caring if we had sex while I was on my period and now I'm pleased to know that there's plenty of people out there who don't mind either. Like a lot of other people said, as long as I'm not feeling crappy and bloated then I'm all for it. Another suggestion other than the ones given are to have intercourse in the shower. You can clean off and make sure it's not all over and then you can get some oral too. Plus, I personally think shower sex is great regardless of my period being there or not.
03/11/2011
If you're using a tampon or menstrual cup, sex on a period is fine. Except penetrative sex, I mean.
03/11/2011
Within the week before my period hits rough sex will make me spot, sometimes heavily. That's ok with us. But not during my actual period. Then it's anal or oral only.
03/11/2011
I never really minded, but with my current boyfriend, he complains that the blood feels "tacky" and it lessens the experience for him.
If I'm not a heavy flow though, I don't care. If I'm horny, I will practically rape him! lol

I would do it-no reason to let it ruin the fun, but my BF is still a bit grossed out, so we stick with clit stimulation with my bullet for me and BJs for him during that time.

Actually, that's something I noticed too.I felt really awkward about having sex with my fiance on my period but he really didn't care at all.I didn't have my usual cramps and my flo was really light.we just throw down a towel or hop in the shower

Sometimes, if I'm horny but crampy, he'll get extra oral sex, which he does not mind at all!
I also find that sex can help with cramps, and make things go by faster, and since my periods usually last a full 7 days, I'm always glad to make them shorter! less

tigerkate, using a nice water based lube will help decrease the "tacky" feeling that the discharge of menstruation can sometimes cause. I know the discharge isn't always the best lube, although it may feel like it at that time. We sometimes use a water based lube like Sliquid H2O Ride during my period. It decreases that sometimes tacky feeling.

Lube may make a little more of a mess, but using a large folded sheet, plus a thick towel under you will decrease the mess. Or a Liberator Throe. Wow, I want one of these.

Eh, I'm not the biggest fan. I'll try to avoid it, but sometimes a girl just wants to get laid. That's what showers and dark towels are for.
03/16/2011
Most of the guys I've been with haven't been phased by it. One went so far as to say 'hey, it's just extra lube!' lol. But that may be one of the perks of mostly dating people in the medical field.
03/16/2011
I don't really did penetrative stuff during my period, but anything else I'm down for. It isn't really that big a deal to me though.

I have always been a fan of the "menstrual cup". Not widely known about in the US, but I've been using it since age 17. They cannot be worn during sex, HOWEVER, they have come out with a cup that is disposable, and can be worn during sex. It's called SoftCup or the Instead Cup. You put it in quite easily (takes one or two times to practice) and it fits around the cervix, and makes a sort of suction. It feels comfortable, and you can have great sex and experience amazing orgasms (believe me, they are better on your period) without the disgusting mess.

Only on days where it's not cramping soo bad it just hurts to even think about sex..
06/22/2011
I've done it at that time of the month but only in the shower.
