Ladies...Do you dress sexy on purpose to workout at the gym?

Contributor: Martiniman Martiniman
While at the gym the other day going nowhere on the treadmill, my wife and I spotted several women working out (not very hard) who were dressed in very little. We're talking about tiny shorts that would gap open when legs were spread and spaghetti strap tank tops that would allow their boobs to pop out if they were to move a certain way to quickly or with a quick motion. Now I'm not complaining at all, since I'm allowed a peek as long as I don't touch, but my wife and I discussed it later, which led to this question.

Do you dress sexy with very little clothing when you workout at the gym?

If yes, is the gym considered a hot bed for meeting a potential partner in today's society?

OR

Is it just the exhibitionist in you?

Maybe comfort?

I wear the spaghetti strap tank tops to the gym and in every day life...It's just what I like to wear..as for bottoms, I don't like getting stared at too much so I will prob not wear tiny shorts. I tend to over heat a lot so I will wear a little less clothing...not because I want to attract attention. I avoid eye contact at all costs so it probably wouldn't matter if I did or not. The girls may be trying to look sexy, I don't know...depends on the girl.

No. I'm there to work out, not look sexy. I wear yoga pants and a t-shirt, and I definitely won't bother with makeup, because I know I'm going to sweat it off within the first half hour.

For me its really comfort. I don't wear that much clothing, but that's because its easier to workout in, not for attention.

not necessarily... it just kind of happens that way.... yoga pants or shorts and a tight tanktop is more practical and more attractive than a huge Tshirt and loose fitting sweats.... the less clothes you wear the more comfortable and less hot and sweaty you get...

Um no, because I sweat and look gross anyways. I wear workout shorts or capris with a loose fitting t-shirt, sometimes I cut the sleeves off. I'm not there to impress anyone, it isn't a fashion show, you're there to get in shape or keep in shape, not look like a beauty queen.

I get self conscious at the gym, so I usually wear yoga pants and a t-shirt. I definitely don't wear makeup - I get sweaty within 20 minutes, so what's the point?

No. I do wear yoga pants and a workout tank top, but nothing sexy or revealing. I'll admit, my sports bra does tend to show a lot during my workout but who cares?

Mmm I dont think so... Normally when I go work out I wear yoga pants , workout shoes, a spaghetti strap shirt under with a side swept loose fitting shirt on top.. Yea its disastrous jeje well I think it just makes women feel sexy when hot sweaty guys are checking them out?? Jeje

No. When I'm at the gym, I've got my "don't come close, don't talk to me" shield up. Definitely not looking for a prospective anything. Yoga pants and tank top for me.

Well I don't go to a gym, I workout at home with my fitness pole & other equipment that I actually don't even really use anymore since I pole, but either way -- doesn't apply to me much since I workout in the privacy of my own home.

However, if I were to use a gym, I would not be dressed in little clothing. My tights (fleece lined leggings, not the see-through ones) and long camisoles (that hit past my buns!) is what I'd choose to wear. When we go walk the track in my area or go play tennis, that is what I wear. I don't see the point in being half naked to workout and I know what kind of attention comes from doing that, so I try to avoid it.

I don't know why society considers a gym a place to meet a potential one-night-stand. Ridiculous to me. If I were going to meet new people I might try a damn library or something.

Not on purpose. Most gym clothes I have are a little tighter fitting than what I would normally wear, but nothing out right revealing. Tight yoga pants and a racer back tank with a sports bra. I don't find that attractive, but some might.

same yoga pants and t-shirt combo for me, but if I work out at home I'll just wear a sports bra and pants(It's just more comfortable for me). So I can see wearing skimpy clothing if your not self conscious or worried about public perception.

Two of my local gyms have got interesting rules regarding what can an cannot be worn.

The community gym with it's low lost gold coin entry ($1 or $2) says so long as your genital area(M/F) and nipples(F) are covered you can wear what you like.

So you have got all types there from guys in just g-strings to women in one piece sheer body suits that hide nothing.

The other, a health centre with it's $3000-$4800 per year membership says you can basically do as you like. Nudity in the heated pool/spa areas is common and what they wear in the main gym areas or during classes leaves little to the imagination.

They even have unisex gym uniforms on sale and free daycare onsite.
