I am curious as to what the "honest" average of partners is for most people. I believe it might vary depending on age, gender, ect. How many partners have you had? How many partners do you believe is acceptable? How old are you?
How Many Partners Have You Had? How Many Is To Much?

I'm genderqueer. I've only had one partner and I don't plan to have more. I think any number of partners is acceptable, it's up to the individual to decide.

Echoing what AndroAngel said.

As long as you use protection, I guess it doesn't matter how many partners you've had. But I feel like 10 is a reasonable number, at least for my own lifestyle.

i would vote but this is public. a poll this intimate should be private.

i believe any number of partners is acceptable, as long as one is being careful. there is such thing as sex addiction, however. using a bit of moderation is never bad though.
but if someone really feels a connection with 8, 80 or 800 people, enough to sleep with them... so be it. good for them.

The acceptable number is whatever number you are personally comfortable with. I don't know why so many people are hung up on "The Number."
12/28/2011
I've had over 20 partners, and I think that no one should be judged on how many people they've been with, even if the number is zero. For those that are with multiple partners, safety is a must. (Everyone but my boyfriend, whom I'm fluid-bonded with, wears non-latex condoms and uses gloves for certain acts.)

I am very picky about whom I sleep with and I am so happy that I am.. plus I prefer to not sleep with someone unless I am in a relationship with them..

Um... grammar nazi coming out. When you refer to actual numbers, please use fewer, not less.
For me, I've had my fair share of partners. I don't believe there is such a thing as too many or too few partners. Seriously, it's a number, that's it. Just use protection and get tested regularly.

I have had "just" two. I regret them both and now, in an extremely unhappy marriage, I'm faced with the reality that it will probably end up being at least one more. I always wanted to be with one man forever, but I made bad decisions, I admit. I'm not like most people who don't care how many they sleep with (if that's you, all the more power to you! not judging, this is my personal belief for myself.) I would strongly advise any virgin to think long and hard about the person they give their virginity to. It may matter more than you think, but you wont realize it until after the fact. Just my 0.02

I don't believe that someone can have too many partners. I mean... as long as they are being safe.

alright, so i voted. i put my name on my 'number.' to prove i'm not ashamed of it, and to show something to those who think there's shame in not being a virgin, or having more than one partner, forever.

disney cursed us with that idea. christianity perpetuated the lie.

I prefer to identify as genderqueer or genderfluid most of the time these days, but I'm physically female and have had only one partner, and hope it stays that way! ^_^

I did not vote all the way! Damn it. I am 23, Female, I have had 8 sexual partners exactly (6 male and 2 female), and I think any number of partner is acceptable.
12/29/2011
I've had 2 partners. I think it's acceptable to have as few or as many partners as you feel comfortable with. I don't judge, whether someone's never had sex, or has had many partners.
Even though I haven't had sex with very many people, it drives me crazy when people look down on those who have. That's one of the few things I don't like about my boyfriend. He is very judgmental of my friends who choose to have sex with people they aren't dating.

I have had 3 partners, my husband has had 6. I really think that as long as you're being safe, there's nothing wrong with having a higher number.

Yeah, there are some really good posts here.
I absolutely agree there is no right or wrong number of partners for any adult age. We all make mistakes, numbers don't really matter.

I don't think there is a "Too many" because it's personal preference. I've been with 4 sexual partners and my husband has been with... um... never-mind, he lost count. But see what I mean? Doesn't matter to either one of us.
Though, I admit we both probably started a little too soon. Okay, a lot too soon, but we got lucky and haven't had too many negative repercussions. We try not to dwell on the past because it's gone; we look toward the future.

Just one for me. That's probably all I'll ever have.

2 for me. The second is really reluctant to tell me his number, but I know it's more than 30 and fewer than 100. I'm curious only in a cursory way, because my ex almost never talked to me about sex, and I think it's good for my writing. I'm 27.
And I do think there's a number that's too high, but I think it's different for everyone. I think you've had too many partners when sex becomes a mechanical chore that you do because you don't know what else to do - which is probably the point that it's a sex addiction. That number can be very low or very high, but I think when someone crosses that personal line, it's too many.

I've had one partner who I was in a relationship with and 1 other guy later down who I slept with a few times.
01/02/2012
I've had one, and same for him. When I was a virgin I was dating a guy who had had 12 and that seemed like too many for me, didn't want to be another notch in the belt, etc. I'd say any number under 5 I'd be comfortable with in a partner.
01/02/2012
Welp, looks like I'm in a league of my own up there.

ive been with 5 women, my wife is up around 20 or so....i dont really think of that being very acceptable, but she is my wife, and i love her so it is what it is

Been with 3 ladies and I was the first with each one. Not sure how comfortable I'd be dating someone with a higher track record than me.
