My wife and I, while pretty new to EF, are active participants in the Forums. However, after days of submitting polls and topics for discussion, tonight, we sit here together...blank brained. No good ideas? Any other "frequent" contributor ever just "run out of ideas" for this forum?
For Frequent Forum Contributors...do you ever just run dry on ideas?

I don't start threads unless I really need imput on something.

This, or I realized I have a question that no one has asked yet (that has only happened twice). Otherwise I'll check the forum and post/vote on other threads every day, but I don't post new topics.

I tend to contribute more to the forums by posting on discussions that have already been posted by others and not by adding additional discussions. I have posted some of my own discussions, but not as often.
07/17/2011
Mostly the thing is that I won't post unless I have something good to say that hasn't been properly dealt with in the past, so I only end up posting a couple of times a week.

We have been here or 10 months and have only posted 19 of our own discussions/polls. Most of the time my questions have already been posted or there is one pretty similar.

I never, ever visit the forums trying to rack up points and posts and threads. That's just obnoxious. I really only make a new thread if I really have something to say and the same goes for my replies.
07/17/2011
A lot of topics are already covered so I don't start that many threads.

I hate seeing the same threads over and over.

I would love to start contributing frequently but i never know what to post about.

I only start threads when I have a legitimate question or comment that has not been addressed before (that I can find.) I often go weeks or even months without starting a thread.
So, no, I'm not sitting here thinking up polls and discussions. I wait until something strikes me and then try to make sure no one has had a similar poll or discussion before.

I only post threads if I feel it's unique or something like that. Sometimes it's really hard to sift through ALL of the posts to figure out what's been covered and what hasn't.
I do know that the following have been beaten to death:
- Anal Sex: How to do it, how not to do it, which lube to do it with, what toy to use, how big is the biggest we've inserted, and our general thoughts on rimming then kissing or ATM
- Whether men and women alike like to lick pussy or suck cock
- Who would and would not have a threesome, foursome, moresome
- Which positions we like
- How young is too young to learn about sex
- How much of a gap is too much of a gap in relationships, age wise
- Our favorite colors
- Our views on youths having access to condoms and other forms of birth control and what we learned in sex ed
- How we groom our pubic area
*breathe* That's just the top of the list of OVERLY posted topics. Drives me nuts on days when I'm already frustrated to sift through this stuff.
I love the Sex Facts posts and I love Sam's posts about current events or helpful information about the real world.

Right, I'll only start a new post on something I really wanted to know about, after making sure there's not a post on the same topic already.

I don't run out of ideas because I don't actively try to make posts/discussions on a daily basis.
07/17/2011
I hope you don't feel obligated to make new forum threads JUST to be active!
If you have an idea for a forum thread, search for key words. If you find a thread just like the one you're going to start...don't. Comment on a thread that's already there.

Good suggestion! Maybe if EdenPoints were revised to reward new post and new discussions the same, we would have fewer duplicate threads. Currently, a new thread is double a new post on an existing thread.

I frequently would run out of ideas for things to post, so I just wouldn't post. I'd rather wait and come up with something worthwhile to share than start a bunch of threads just to try and stay active. When I see a lot of similar threads being started by the same person, honestly, I stop reading anything they start. It does bother me to see a lot of repeat threads, and it bothers me to see 3 or 4 separate threads that could have very easily been one because there's a minute difference between them all.
Don't worry about starting threads on things that already have a billion threads, and don't worry about starting separate threads for things you can combine. I'm more likely to answer a 4 part question in one single thread than I am to bother reading 4 separate threads to answer 4 barely different questions, lol.

I generally will ignore threads if I notice that a contributor has just started 4-5 separate new discussions all within a few minutes of one another, even more so if they do it on a daily basis.

Ditto Sam and Kindred.
This is especially true when I see a rehash thread that I know I started or commented on not that long ago.

I usally just reply to other people's threads. I only make a new thread when I have a question I really want to ask, I never just sit here trying to think of something I could make a thread about.

As many others have said, we do not start many discussions. We simply participate in already started conversations. There are folks who, especially new, tend to try to start numerous conversations that are frankly old topics. Search is our friend.

It is embarrassing how long it took me to figure out I could use the search function on the forums as well as to look for products.
Before I figured out how to search the forums, I regrettably started a number of repeat threads. I try to avoid that now, and only start a new thread when I have a question I truly want answered and haven't been able to find a satisfactory answer for, or if I think the thread would useful or fun in some other way.
I do sometimes get annoyed at having to sift through "frivolous" threads to find something interesting. But then I remind myself that what I consider "frivolous" might be interesting to someone else.
