Does anyone else miss the days of seeing nipples through blouses? If you are a woman, do you enjoy knowing your nipples can be seen erect? or are you more modest?

Contributor: Trysexual Trysexual
I remember the good ole days before all these underwire padded push up bras with fond memories of seeing erect nipples through blouses, sweaters, bathing suits/bikinis. A few weeks ago my GF took off her dress after a formal affair and was wearing those stick on nipple covers (Hers are frequently hard). We both laughed, but it got me thinking how women seem to go to such lengths now to hide their nipples. It's almost as if being anatomically correct is a bad thing. I realized how infrequently I see them anymore and it got me wondering.

Now my ex on the other hand had inverted nipples and probably would have loved the opportunity to protrude some now and then.

What do you think? Do you women intentionally hide your high beams or is it just a result of everything being padded nowdays?

What you're seeing is a result of more and more women going into the work force. Our "high beams" as you put it, are seen as "come-ons" to guys with the social skills of a Neanderthal and often put us in the way of unwanted attention.

In order to keep a room full of bored executives who think we should be barefoot and pregnant from staring at our tits instead of listening to what we're saying when we're putting on the biggest presentation of our careers we had to resort to bras with lots of padding.

So, really if you want to blame anyone blame men. It's all your fault. LOL
I frequently choose not to wear a bra and I'm not self-conscious about it.

I get enough people staring at my chest without my nipples in view. (DD cups...so yeah) Pass on exposing extra.

This exactly! I wear a padded bra so no one sees my erect nipples.

I never cared, expect for the fact that I can't find a breathable bra now because of all this nipple-padding bs.

Fair enough, but it doesn't have to be restricted to work. How about out at a bar, in a park, at the beach? Point taken, but it was just an observation. The neanderthal's don't need high beams to take notice and be neanderthals.

I kinda think it all happened by chance, when the push up bra/wonderbra phase started and even worked it's way into bikini tops. I guess there was less choice in the 70s-80s.

I remember as a teen enjoying touching a girls breasts over her bra, but it's not as pleasant when there is a bunch of padding, or in one case a water bra!

I like to think that those kinds of bras are false advertising and I'm dead-set against them. It's like stuffing a sock in your shorts - what the hell are you gonna do when you have to drop your pants?

Yeah, I just don't want people staring at my nipples, for the most part. I don't wear padded bras, but I do wear bras that are made of material thick enough to keep my nipples from being visible to anyone and everyone.

I'm by no means a prude, but as a woman, it's kind of nice to not have my tits being stared at, because there's this whole other being attached to them, and I like it when people look at me, and listen to me when I talk to them. Even if it wasn't a big deal to me, it can call unwanted attention from unwanted onlookers, so...that's how I feel about it, anyway.

Your last sentence also reminded me why I don't like current bras and their padding - I can't feel my boyfriend squeezing my breast through it like I used to feel it back in high school (mid-90's). It's frustrating to both of us ... neither of us can feel anything, and the added curse of an underwire makes it even more frustrating when getting into foreplay ...

I really should try to market a "naughty date night" bra ...

I really don't care either way. I prefer bras with a little padding, simply because I like how they fit better. Bras without any padding or any underwires just feel so flimsy. I don't like the inch-thick of padding most bras have, but I've been unable to find any bras recently with just a tiny bit of padding, so I've been having to make do with the thick ones.

I like padded bras for the very reason that they don't let my nipples show through. Like Kira said, DDs get enough unwanted attention on their own. I can't walk down the street without someone honking their horn at me, and it's always worse if I'm wearing a thin bra and shirt.

The mom of my second GF had very pronounced protuberant nipples. I suspect now that she must have just loved it that I couldn't take my eyes off of them.

I have like super nipples and need like half an inch of padding to hide them from view. UGH, go away nipples! They're also very sensitive, though, which my boyfriend doesn't mind.

In short, I've been raised that it's not good to let your nipples say hello, so I try and avoid it when I can.

It's kind of a rude question - I look at breasts plenty - but I'm not looking for 'headlights'. Find an old bar that still does wet t-shirt contests or a time machine to send you back to the 80s!

I don't own a padded or molded cup bra. I rarely see them in my size (34J). My nipples are visible on occasion when it is cold and I am not wearing a jacket. But eh, I live in Australia so it is rarely cold. I'm indifferent. I'd probably go braless if I wasn't so self-conscious.

If you can see my nipples there better be a dang good reason you're that close. Not a turn on for me. Mine are mine and mine alone, they'll stay hidden in my padded bra thank you very much.

My take on this is very similar to others. I make sure to wear lined bras (not padded though) because I do not want my nipples to show. I get enough attention as it is (more than I want, actually) so I don't need my nipples sticking through my shirt to garner any additional attention. Like Stormy was saying, we're already viewed as "boobs, ass & vagina" by neanderthals - so why increase that by adding nipples to the mix?

When I'm at home with my man, I let them show because I don't wear bras at home - and also because he can actually still look me in the eye when my nipples are hard. I know he loves me and values me in every way, so I am fine with him enjoying my body. But just some stranger (jerk) off the street? No way.

You're exactly right. As a woman, I often can't get away from that kind of attention - even though I do not want it - no matter where I go. Unwanted/unpleasant attention from males is a part of daily life no matter the location. If I'm at a park, I'm there to enjoy the park (walk the dog, take pictures, etc) - I'm NOT there to be ogled as a sexual play thing by random males. Same at the bar - I'm there to enjoy myself with friends, have a drink, relax - NOT there to be part of the visual entertainment for the men in the room.

It's not exactly fair that some men feel that way, but it's life. So I choose not to display more of myself than I absolutely must.

I would be very self-conscious if my nipples were easily visible through my clothing in public - aside from the beach or a pool.
