My bf called me a sex addict because im always looking up new toys to want and get from this site and it made me think of something a friend told me a long time ago. She told me that i would become a sex addict by the way i am. Now i dont have sex alot (for certain reasons that o wont go into) but i am crazy for this site and its toys. ~TO THE POINT~ Just how many of you out there are addicted to sex or the thought of it?
Do you consider your self a sex addict?

One of my close guy friends has accused me of being a sex addict because of all the toys I look at/buy. And the fact that I talk about it a lot.
I just think I have a healthy sex drive and I am comfortable with that

Toys and sex with the wife fill up most of my day. Can I go without? Ya, but not my favorite thought.
01/02/2011
It's just a hobby. I haven't had any complaints that's for sure.
01/02/2011
Not really, but I think I think about it more than most people will admit. I'm sure most people are fairly sexual, but they just aren't as open about it as I am. lol
01/02/2011
I love collecting sex toys, but I'm honestly not addicted to sex in the slightest.

First of all your poll is flawed with a lack of understanding about sexual addiction. Sexual addiction isn't about an obsessive need for sex, it is a deep shame-filled need to punish ones self and rooted in deep emotional anguish. Looking at a sex site doesn't make you an addict anymore than sitting in a bar drinking a coke makes you an alcoholic.

If you are using EF as an escape from your responsibilities or a way to shame yourself then you might have a problem. If you simply enjoy looking at the toys and choosing which ones you want to try next you are a customer with a healthy appreciation for sexual pleasure...or at least sex toys.
This site is built to be fun and exciting just because you appreciate the hard work and like to be here doesn't mean anything is wrong with you.
Now why your friends would decide for themselves you are in danger of sexual addiction makes me wonder. But trust me, a sex addict isn't obsessing over toys and not having sex often...a sex addict is looking for their next sexual conquest when they are fighting the self loathing they live with every day.
Thinking about sex is a human thing regardless of what people might tell you. It's not addictive until it is no longer something you can willingly turn your focus away from.

Agreed. I don't think it's okay to make light of addictions. I think about sex and sex toys a ton and I masturbate a ton and I think that's perfectly healthy. I feel great about myself and my decisions. So long as you are comfortable and satisfied and happy, I don't see why that would qualify as an addiction.

I'm sure my wife believes I'm obsessed - since she's always right I'm going with that answer!

First, thanks to everyone with the very informational posts. I didn't know much about sex addiction at all, but that's certainly good to know.
And to answer the OP's question, I'm not obsessed with the thought of sex or have sex very often -- in fact, sometimes I think my girlfriend wishes we would have sex more often.

Wherever I am, my thoughts deviate in some way towards sex. I'm not sure if that makes me addicted, but it sure as hell makes me preoccupied.
01/03/2011
This site is a healthy outlet for me to connect with mature, like-minded individuals who are trying to help others. I don't get turned on here, period. I have fun though and enjoy sharing my experiences. I would barely call that a sex addiction. Addictions are a problem when they hurt yourself and other people. That's how I see it.
01/03/2011
i'm not sure. i think about sex alot and fantasize alot..but when it comes down to it, i don't masturbate all that often, nor do i have sex alot..not like i really can anyways. D:

I dont think anyone got the point and looked to much into my story, plz read to the point and ignore it, it has nothing to do with being an sex addict and i never meant it to seem that way. The story was achauly a background of why i thought of this question, not stateing that anyone who goes on this site more then the average person is considered a sex addict. Please learn to think outside the box.

I think about sex a lot and have a lot of sex when I can, but I'm not an addict, because it does not have a damaging effect on my life.

not at all
01/17/2011
I enjoy playing and having sex, but I am not addicted. I can go weeks without playing or having sex.
02/07/2011
I spend a lot of time thinking about it, browsing toys, playing with toys, but not necessarily every day, and I don't stress out if I don't. So, no.
