So the other day I was watching District 9 and the main character Wikis Van De Merwe and has this really weird funky accent that I found really strangely attractive. I don't know if was an accent or a lisp but I thought it was sexy for some odd reason. Has anyone else thought someone was sexy just based off of their accent?

Isn't it a funny idea to make a pair of cuffs like that?
Ok, I must admit that my ankles have never been cuffed with any police style handcuffs, so I can't really speak in that manner... But don't I think..

I don't know what a "funny" accent is, guess it's up to the person listening.
I really like the British/English accents. It's painful for my ears to hear a really poorly faked "Asian" accent. There are just so many things wrong about it for my brain.

I also really don't know what a "funny" accent is, but certain accents I do find sexy. I like british accents, australian accents, new zealand accents, but it's more than just the accent, it is the accent along with the voice tone of the person that I might find sexy. The accent alone wouldn't be enough for me to find someone's voice sexy.

I guess it's funny but we as Americans probably are consider to have a funny accent by people in other countries. A funny accent can be anything that is a unique or interesting way of speaking that is different from the way you speak, we actually all have accents though. Even a lisp could be considered an accent. It can really be any manor of speaking that can be identified in a group. Like Ebonics could even be consider an accent.

I love accents of all kinds, but I wouldn't consider any of them funny. Just unique

Sorry I probably shouldn't have thrown the word funny in there it's become kinda confusing. A funny accent is just an accent, it can be any accent. The word funny kinda came into play because the character I was referencing had to me a really funny accent, funny in that it was interesting to hear. Funny just seemed to be the best word to describe it, don't take it as a negative type of funny as in a stupid accent. Think of it as the word funny meaning interesting or unique, not what you are used to hearing. I actually have an accent, a Danish accent, maybe that's way I use some word differently, like funny to me means interesting or out of the ordinary.

It's funny how anglo accents (UK, Aussie, Kiwi, etc) seem to be interpreted as somehow more 'valued'. Looking at American Idol, why do we need an obnoxious Brit - we don't have enough obnoxious critics of our own?
I do not find accents 'attractive' nor am I somehow against them. I try to evaluate a person and their value based on merit.

Accents don't "turn me on" but they do certainly add to the humor in a statement sometime. I find some one-liners or rants, delivered with an accent, makes them much more funny to me.

I just love a southern accent, after 3 years down south it took me like a year to lose my accent I picked up, not good when you move to the north!
Is it sexy, only when the wife does it.
Victoria, I agree with you on jokes, sometimes it can make or break a joke.

British accents melt me like butter ...
And Bostonian accents are becoming my favorite, too.

I have a Southern accent and think it makes me sound like a hick. I'm worried about doing my first video review, lol.
British accents make my panties fall off. Like whoa.
And slight German accents, or Austrian. They sound like there is a hint of snotty evil right under the surface...*sigh*.

I like accents from the South, i don't know why.

Most accents are intriguing to me but I love South African accents.

I love accents. Mostly danish and British accents. We have family friends in Denmark and the U.K. The friend from the U.K; as soon as he said water, I melted to the floor. I could hear him say that word all day. The guy from Denmark is so cute and so funny; we use to talk all day. It would be cute when he would try to say something simple; example, He cereal and milk and he didn't know what we called it here in America. We told him, we call it cereal or breakfast, and he just laughed.

I love Southern accents, I at times will take on a Southern accent and enjoy the attention it brings at a club.

I also like the British/Australian accents. Something about them is so very sexy, even if I hear a man speaking with it.

Oh yes. Scottish mostly, and Australian.
My boyfriend and I each speak another language (him French, me German), and we can drive each other nuts by talking dirty in a language the other doesn't understand. It's quite fun, because you both know the other could be saying the silliest or most offensive things, but it doesn't matter because it sounds hot as hell.

I have a preference for a certain timber of voice, the more unusual the better for me but also am very attracted to a man who has good diction...not necessarily perfect grasp of the language but more I dunno, educated? cultured? I love slavic accents especially, dunno why just do.

ROFL I know what you mean! Arch speaks polish fleuently and one night we made him Mom laugh from the other room cause she heard him talking in a seductive voice all about doing the dishes...what plate he was washing, how sudsy it was, naming all the utensils totally in polish. I was red faced and nearly drooling until she told me what he was saying! It was freaking hilarious!

I like most European accents and cultured sounding Latin accents. Not crazy about Australian, I think because on American TV, the Aussie accent is just over used too much, to sell things, on every TV show, I'm just immune to it.
I used to like Boston accents, but we spent a week in Boston, and although I LOVE the city I found some of the natives to be LOUD and obnoxious, (the men NEVER take off their ball caps. A gentleman takes OFF his hat indoors. I find it rude when people wear hats in restaurants or even bars.) and all the yelling and shouting got to me. Maybe we stayed in the wrong part of Boston. I actually dated a guy from Boston (and like him quite a bit) and he had very little accent. He said he worked to get rid of it. I can empathize, I grew up in Chicago, and worked to get rid of that "Super Fan" Chicago Accent, but I still sound like that if I get really angry. It makes My Man laugh. "Ay, P'Gell, Ya want me to git ya two or TREE of dem tings?" SHUT UP!!!! He should talk. His father had the strongest Chicago accent I ever heard.

While there are some accents that can make my skin tingle, I agree with Airen: the deep, smoky voice is a bigger turn-on. But no mumbling, that's the worst speech quality ever.

Probably not "funny" ones, but different ones, sure. But, then, I'm super aural, like talk more than I like cunnilingus.
